...that by now they'd have nationwide wireless broadband. Verizon has broadband in several markets, but not in the places I need it to be. In Lincoln, NE, for example, you can only get their regular speeds - up to 80 whole kbps!! :bigwhoop:

What seems to be the problem? Several years ago AT&T was supposed to team up with Intel and someone else to start making it happen. A Google search reveals that they have 86ed that plan.

All I want to do is go to my mother's Luddite house and still be able to get online with my laptop. Is that too much to ask?????

I won't have ANY internet access when I go on vacation in a couple of weeks. Unless I pull a JPC and go to the library. :lmao:

Try searching for Wi-Max or Broadband over Electricity.

This is the life! I got the Verizon Broadband national access and I'm pretty happy with it. $60 friggin bucks a month, but if I have a phone signal, I have wireless internet. This means I can go spend the day at my SIL's house and spend the night without the stress of worrying if a client needs something or you all are misbehaving

In Lincoln they don't have broadband speeds and I'm supposedly on what amounts to dialup speeds, but this is significantly faster than a 56k modem so it's not excruciating to get something done.

Yesterday I sat on the deck by the lake and watched the kids jetski while I did a few tasks for clients and checked my email.

that's not true. VZW's voice and data network are separate.

That's what they told me  Said the broadband is only in select markets, but I can get dialup speeds anywhere I can get a phone signal.

Ok, that's true about the dial up, but that is reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally slow.

The VZW broadband is what I'm going for in a couple months (once my new every two comes up). Apparently, there's access down here in St Inigoes, but even if there isn't broadband, the wireless will still be faster than my dialup. :lmao:

It's really not too bad - it's like NetZero's fake highspeed. Net accelerator or something like that. Not like cable or DLS but not as bad as straight dialup.
