young boxers and xanax

How much xanax would be safe to give my son's dog while we are watching him. Or should I just double up on my own????? He's 1 and a half years old and he has a LOT of energy. Any suggestions besides wearing his butt out a couple times a night in the yard with the frisbee? W'eve tried that. Doesn't work. How much attention do these dogs NEED???

Tie his leash to the rear fender of the bike while you putter around the neighborhood getting practice.

I have 6 and they are all almost moving all the time...even the old girl (over 10) plays and plays...double up on yours and leave the poor dog alone...
I really won't give him any, but the thought has crossed my mind. Swear to God, he is NON-STOP. I take him out to play frisbee and he comes at me at like 60 mph, then whizzes past, then finally brings it to me, puts his damn paw on it so I can't get it and then the games begin. He scares the crap out of me cause he is sooooooooo fast. Fast isn't even the word. Plus he pees sometimes inside. What's up with THAT? I'm a clean freak......

He'd drag me through the woods. This dog is either in-bred or seriously in need of meds. I have to take him out at like 5:30 tomorrow a.m. I'm gonna be late for work either cause he's knocked me down or I've taken a xanax before coffee.

Stop it! Don't accept uncontrolable behaviour.:smack:

You need to be the leader of the pack. You must show you are the alpha dog...:dogwhisperer:

I only "babysit" him about once a month or less, so I can't train him. He does fine on the leash with us, it's just when you let him run in the yard. He has got a lot of energy, but really, is as cute as can be. That stupid face.....gets me every time. Sorry appy about the stupid face thing.

is he in a crate at night? or has he ever been crated?
Crated at night and during the day while we (or my son) are at work. I THINK I could trust him to be out of the crate, but not trying it cause I like my carpet and furniture too much. We leave him out of the crate when we're around and not in the house. He runs from window to window to see what we are doing outside. He was adopted from the pound at a year old. I think he may have been abused because last night I raised my hand and said "sit" and he shrank back like I was going to hit him.

If he is always crated this may be a reason to why he's so energetic?

I think too much time in the crate also, but since we just babysit, I can't let him out of the crate while we are at work. Once we get home, he's out for 6 hours. I hate that whole crating thing anyway, but I just can't trust him. Wish I could just take him to work with me while I watch him for the boy. It's really unfair. I don't agree with the concept at all but have no choice. If he belonged to me, he'd be in obedience training and I'd do it differently.

If he were in obedience training they'd probably promote crate training too, I would think. You shouldn't feel bad about it. It's a safe way to keep him from harming himself or your house, and he's fine. My boy spends some time in his crate during the day (and sleeps in there at night) and he pouts, but he's fine.

I crate mine at night and she is out all day long, and when she goes out she runs and runs and runs and does her jumping and wiggle stuff.

I wish I could trust him to be out of the crate during the day. That jumping stuff scares me to death. He can jump above my head. I need to get him to appy to get his nails clipped. He's already torn a finger up when we were going for the frisbee at the same time.

I am home with her so it isn't a problem. Mine doesn't jump that high, and she is around 3 young kids and the only thing she does is lick them to death :lmao:
