Your Car is Spying on You - LEGALLY

I have been saying for months that a new business will soon crop up that disconnects your car from the cloud - Finding that one wire to snip so your vehicle no longer transmits signals for others to intercept, specifically the manufacturer.

I'd be willing to bet this is integrated at a level where you vehicle will NOT run without the infotainment device connected.

as far clipping the antenna, I'll go out on a limb and the vehicle will fail if long term loss to the mothership

Loss of communication between system modules (AKA wire snip) will cause the "money light" on the dash to light. Vehicle inspection stations may not pass the vehicle. Not an issue in this county until you buy or re-register a failed vehicle.

I replaced the bulbs in the rear license plate with LEDs on a 2014, and now have warnings for circuit errors. Internal diagnostics have been much enhanced since then.

If you are really worried you can get the Privacy4Cars app and regularly clear the info (probably some other hidden stuff that can't be cleared given the number of chips new cars have these days).

Probably not going to work, mine has a noise maker that it uses when the engine isn't running and if you disconnect it throws all sorts of warnings unless you put a 4 ohm resistor in place to make it think the noisemaker is still there.

I switched my Jetta lights out when I first got it and the thing acted like it was possessed by the devil himself, until I switched back. That's the only time the glowplug light ever came on. It was a 2000 model year. Man I miss that turbo whistle...

I'm thinking the same thing, but someone other than me is smart enough to bypass and trick the system into thinking it's communicating with the mothership.

Yeah, I've seen the video of you trying to wire some lights on your truck.

Or just append a prefix and trailer to it of "Epstein Did Not Kill Himself" and "**** Joe Biden."
