"VILLIERS-LE-BEL, France — Rampaging youths rioted for a second night in Paris' suburbs, firing at officers and ramming burning cars into buildings. At least 80 officers were injured, a senior police union official said Tuesday.

The overnight violence was more intense than during the three weeks of rioting in 2005, said the official, Patrice Ribeiro. He said "genuine urban guerrillas with conventional weapons and hunting weapons" were among the rioters.

On Monday night, youths were seen firing buckshot at police and reporters. About 30 of 82 injured officers were hit by buckshot, Ribeiro told The Associated Press. Rioters also hurled stones and Molotov cocktails at police, authorities said."

Riot police in France on alert for firearms

"From what our colleagues on the scene tell us, this is a situation that is a lot worse than what we saw in 2005," Patrice Ribeiro, a police officer and senior union official, told RTL radio Tuesday. He added, "A line was crossed last night, that is to say, they used weapons, they used weapons and fired on the police. This is a real guerrilla war."

Ribeiro warned that the police, who have struggled to avoid excessive force, would not be fired upon indefinitely without responding.

More than 80 police officers already have been wounded the clashes, several of them seriously, Ribeiro said later by telephone. Thirty of them were hit with pellets from shotguns, and one of the wounded was hit with a type of bullet used to kill large game, he added. In this case the "youths" are muslim immigrants and their offspring. Mostly Algerians but a lot of Africans too. All mostly from France's old colonial holdings. But the French will back down first, stirring the pot by demanding decent behavior will tear the Paris suburbs apart. They don't have the nuts to do what is necessary.

There are a lot of similarities between what's going on now with these Muslim radicals and the Nazis leading up to WWII. Say what you will about George Bush, but at least he has the guts to call them what they are and try to curtail them. Sort of, when he's not trying to pretend that most of them are swell fellows.

You'd think France and these other countries would learn, but they don't seem to because this isn't the first time Muslim punks have rampaged through Paris and left it in shambles. It was going on just two years ago - I don't remember how Chirac made it stop, it was something about he and Villapin putting together some appeasement package for jobs or welfare.
