Zone Alarm

So I have this new computer; still sitting in the box x3days. I am wondering about putting the free version of Zone Alarm on it. Has anyone used it recently?

I didn't buy and AV, so I'm still trying to decide what to use. I'm done with AVAST; too much of a hog. I was a fan of AVG until I got malware off an ad on a website (the malware embedded in the ad was confirmed by the site). AVG missed that one, so I'm done with them.

Got rid of Zone Alarm after it became too much of a hog about 4 yrs ago.

ALL virus/malware/firewalls miss things at one time or another.

I had a subscription of Zone Alarm Internet Security for the last 4-5 years until about 8 months ago when I decided to go all free with Avast and to use Microsoft Safety Scanner occasionally.

Avast seems to run faster to me and I just like the interface better.

The firewall of ZA was the best one I have used though, but would give a few games that I played fits. It was the combination of Verizon internet and Zone Alarm for some odd reason, there was quite a few people having this problem.

Since I'm a safety girl, I don't run around without protection so yeah, no way I'll fire it up without adding some A/V of some sort. I was a really big fan of ZA for years; I dont remember why I dropped it; it's been a few years, but I do remember I had fun playing with the FW stuff.

Thanks, I'll have a look at VIPRE; I haven't heard of it. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Norton or McAfee.

Yeah, I know AV's will miss malware from time to time, but when I d/l'd another AV,it found it right away - so I dumped AVG.

although I do not go to half of the sites I used to, looking for Game Cracks ....
