I almost called one night to get to the hospital because I was having severe pain from gallstones, didnt know what it was. I decided that someone that might actually be dieing may need it more than me so I drove myself to the hospital, longest 20 minute drive of my life.

I did the same having a diverticulitis attack.

Also decided I didn't want to spring for a cab to get home afterwards, so I drove myself so I could get home again.

Actually Charles County started billing for BLS/ALS transports a few years ago.

Thats fine so long as the county does the billing. The majority of the local ALS/BLS units do not have the resources to bill for services.
