Yes, the starters on vehicels with this feature are beefed up to take it. However, I'm not sure current battery tech is. Wifes Jeep came with an AGM (Absobent Glass Mat) battery, which are suposed to pretty top end stuff. Hers only lasted about 1.5 years before crapping out. Cherokee owners have reported a few similar cases. And my dealership was useless to diagnose it. Just oddball electrical glitches associated with coming out of the engine stop mode.
