I mean, I'm grateful to Food Network because they taught me how to cook. Bourdain can bust on Rachael Ray all he wants, but screw that guy - Rachael helped me put dinner on the table after working all day and showed me that you can cook for real and it doesn't need to be an enormous undertaking.

But they've gotten away from inspiring home cooks and now they're just ridiculous - games shows or food porn that nobody is ever going to actually make.

It's like internet recipes. I have a whole rant about this but here are the highlights:

Click on page title "Easy Low Carb Meals"

"Hi, here's my whole life story and a bunch of non food related anecdotes, also telling you how great this recipe is when I finally decide to share it. But before that I need to write several paragraphs about each step because I think I'm super entertaining, but you might not think so so I'm going to force you to read all this nonsense before I give you the recipe because my mother told me I'm the most fascinating person in the world right before she shipped me off to boarding school and forgot my birthday.

Anyway, here's the super easy low carb recipe: it's only 4,387 ingredients and takes just 6 hours. So you're gonna make the homemade noodles with a flour you'll have to order online, and while the noodles are drying you're gonna braise your beef (ask your butcher for the special cut you need) until tender and roast the veggies and make a sauce (that needs to set up in the fridge and reheated), then plate it just so. Bon appetit!"

Kind of like "This Old House" and other home shows. They transitioned to projects out of financial reach of Joe Homeowner.

I do miss the old food network Sarah Moulton and Rachel Ray,even Emeril. The game shows topped out with the original Iron Chef.
