Getting ready to purchase my very first Maryland fishing license through MD DNR...to fish the Patuxent and Potomac rivers I want purchase the "non tidal fishing" license correct?

I would wait as they will charge you full price for a years licence that will expire on 12/31/13. Wait until 1/1/14 to get one if you dont want to waste 50 bucks

Nope. The non-tidal (streams, upper reaches of creeks and fresh rivers) boundaries are here:

As the second poster noted...you'd be buying a license that is pretty short-lived if you get it before 1 Jan 2014.

It's $15 for the full license, but since it's so late in the year, I'd get the 7-day license for $6.

You can get them at any sporting goods place, WalMart, or online at https://compass.dnr.maryland.gov/dnrcompassportal
