Making health care affordable

I want to know when 100k made you rich?

maybe in the 1920s or something, but now? that is pretty much middle to maybe less than middle middle class.

If you make $100k in a real state, like Texas or Nebraska, you are doing quite well for yourself. $100k in Maryland is nothing.

But....when you are trying to buy fake nails and beer on that measly sum the gubmint gives you, you think $100k is a lot of money.

What... that how much it went up? Or are you now paying towards insurance where you didn't have to before?

That is the monthly increase. Now granted, I pay some and my employer pays some but it did go up $41.28 per month starting July 2012. In fact, this thread reminded me to check my stub.

Something I forgot to mention in my earlier post is that I have BCBS - which saw the biggest increase. Those with Atena and United were increase by 1/2 that amount.

I had BCBS, but the commission dropped it and now Im stuck with United and a higher premium than I paid before.

I have Aetna, and mine did not increase. But, it's possible I won't see a change until this November, as well.

I have to ask, did ya'll's coverage change at all? The last time my premium was increased (Nov 2011), my deductible dropped, as well as a few other things.

For what I know, mine has stayed the same. My employer covers 100%. Has for 16 years now.

The cost of health care was going up already, before Obamacare. That's a fact you cannot deny.

I don't see any difference in what is covered.... but that is just a quick glance response. You sound like you renew in November. My employer renews every July. Our prices are locked in for 12 months. There have been several articles saying the average increase is 5.4% for all. If you manage to come up for renewal this time with no increase, consider yourself lucky.

So, what if he decides to drop all your health care and just pay the fine for not providing it? Who would you go with in that case?

Mine has gone up every November for the past 5 years, probably more than 5%. I'm assuming I will have an increase, just sayin' it wasn't immediate. :cheesy:

we get told of any changes to the program in NOV. sign up or drop our .... then it kicks in, in the new yr starting Jan 1

[I have considered dropping out and paying as I go ...... and getting some long term coverage if I end up in the hospital - because it is such a pain in the ass dealing with the drones at the insurance company]

We went up $20/month, but along with that our copays changed drastically. Pri. care visits went down, but specialists, urgent care and ER went way up. Hospitilization went from no copay to $500. This is the opposite of what I want from my coverage.

My employer is large enough that they are "self insured". If anything, I could see one day having to pay a co-pay or deductable, but I wouldnt imagine them just dropping coverage all together. However, if by chance this happened, I would obviously shop my options and look for the most economical option with the best benefits.

Obamacare was supposed to reduce costs, not increase them. Along with increased taxes, now I am paying a higher premium and larger copays.

What if Obamacare never happened ? Instead of your premium going up $20.00, it would have gone up $80.00.

But the care would not have decreased and we would not have to worry about how we are going to get care in the future once those deciding your fate are uneducated affirmative action chip on the shoulder minorities.
