My doc dumped me :(

It was the Shah Associates.

yeah they fired me too...

I called to see if I should make an appointment for an issue I had and asked the staff to NOT call my cell phone as I'd be at work all day without coverage. I gave them both my work numbers and when I didn't hear anything by noon I called again and explained everything again... got forwarded etc... I told them I was worried that something was wrong etc

Yes sir the doctor will get right back with you...

I never heard anything all day...

I got to my vehicle and cell just after 5 and called to be told that they were closed for the day. I let them know that I was dissatisfied that I was not called back.... and said nevermind I feel fine now.

2 weeks later I got a certified letter in the mail saying that I was not a patient at that facility any longer and that I needed to go find another doctor.

Funny thing is, I've talked to a couple people I know who work at the Bean building and they say "just take the letter to so and so to explain your side"....

I shouldn't have to do that.... I refuse to do that and it's BS that I don't have many other choices within a reasonable distance.

I have never had a problem with the dunkirk office. I love the drs and they really try to help you all they can. We have been going there for years. dr Lowenthal even gave my mom in law samples when she couldn't afford her meds. PF billing has major issues. Always says we owe some strange amount. The office staff even act totally different than in Dunkirk. I have gotten copies of lab results and test results all I have done is ask. I can't imagine the dr even knows this is going on. You should try to get in touch with the dr. I have had a problem with the staff and talked to dr lowenthal and he will get the matter taken care of. They are very good to our family.

I have updated my number about 10 times now. I never get a reminder call. I was told when i got my kids shots i could only see the doctor and no the nurse practitioner. That was BS. I saw the nurse practitioner last week. I am looking for a new doctor right now. I used them because it was the closest to me. My main issue is just the one girl at the office. She is so stupid.

I have been going to Calvert Internal Medicine for over 10 years. Dr Barth and Bluatto are wonderful BUT the office staff is so rude I'm thinking about finding someone else.

what is it with doctors down here??? We are going to be transitioning out of the military health care system in about 6-9 months and I am looking for a general practitioner and a good pediatrician for my 4 year old. So far I am striking out - I'd honestly rather stay out of the 'Shah' empire (yeah I know that's next to impossible) simply because I've seen a couple of them for specialized issues. While the doctors themselves were both VERY nice, I had a hard time understanding them (one in particular) which led to me not following up on something that I should have; not on purpose, I just wasn't clear on whether it was necessary and why. I totally heard something different than what he said.

We'll be moving to the Hollywood area and I am thinking of going to La Plata for my daughter - I've heard good things about Jaime Ready (I think that's her name??) I've heard good things about Sheth - but I've also heard he is super busy and the wait times can be insane. Same with Dhillon (except I've also heard some not so great things about him - and I'm not willing to wait for 3 hours when my child is sick).

I had asked a few friends about gen. doctors in Calvert, as I couldn't seem to find many decent ones in St. Mary's, and this thread really confirmed most of what I had heard. *sigh*

OP, I'm sorry this happened to you and I do think you have some rights here that you could fight for. But to be honest I don't think I'd want to go there anymore.

Any decent docs in the Waldorf/La Plata area??? Seriously, is there anyone around here who is really happy with their doctor, can understand them perfectly, and doesn't have an issue with the office staff?? I'm having an issue with the dentist office staff with double billing/overcharging so I don't want to go to a doctor with crappy office help, no matter how good they might be - it's exhausting to fight with the secretary/billing people constantly. :cds:

sorry for hijacking the thread OP - this is just a raw issue with me as well and I am getting frustrated at the lack of good general and pediatric doctors down here.

I am very happy with my Doctor (Dr. Brophy in Dunkirk), and the staff is nice also. BUT, the wait time is insane! We're talking about total time in the building, 2 or more hours. The other negative is, I live in Lusby, and it's almost an hour drive. The only reason I stay with her, is because she is GREAT. She really, really cares about her patients. She will stay in the room with you for as long as you need, and it's obvious that she cares. They are a practice, but I always make appts. with her (I go maybe 1 or 2 times a year).

As far as a pediatrician, my kids go to Dr. Silpasuvan in PF. They're also a practice, but I usually ask for Dr. Silpasuvan. They're staff is wonderful, and all the doctors (all female doctors in the practice) are wonderful. BUT!!!! The wait time can be pretty bad sometimes-not always though.
Hope you all find a good doctor with a good staff.

*sigh* thanks for the info. We'll be living in Hollywood so Dunkirk is a bit of a drive. I don't mind waiting so much for myself... but for a miserable, sick child, I just can't fathom waiting much over a half an hour. I guess I've been spoiled with doctors in the past though because it seems like waiting is the 'norm' down here. :cds:

If I had a doctor I wasn't happy with, or staff I wasn't happy with, I'd find a new place. That's JMHO. I have seen a lot of doctors in the last months. If I don't like them, I don't go back. I still see Dr. Moon for normal problems and love his staff, but he's in St. Mary's.

I go to dr. monica lee she is in leonardtown on moakely (sp)street. She is very good she sits and listens to what you have to say and doesn't rush you out the door. I spent over 1hr with her the first time I went in to see her as I was having difficulities with breathing due to having bronchitis and she did a nebulizer treatment in her office.

I have been a patient of Dr Gallitan for a few years now. However after he called me a liar, and told my wife that due to my medical condition (diabetes, obesity, and supposed hypertention) it was unfair of us to have another child. I am seriously considering changing. Also according to the good doctor I only have another 2 years to live because I didn't get gastric bypass surgury.

On a funnier note... There was the time I saw Dr Judge because my eyesight was messed up. He took one look at my eye... screamed in fear and ran from the room. 5 min later he informed me I had an appointment with an eye doctor across the street that didn't take my insurance.

P.S. I was also a patient at cavlert family practice till Dr Larson pissed my wife off.

Maybe it's time to change wives, not doctors.

I would tell you the name of an excellent doctor... but if I did... everyone would be going to him... and then he wouldn't have time to treat me.... sorry...

I don't think waiting is the norm. I think too many people put up with it, for way too many reasons to list here. We go to Bayshore Pediatrics in Prince Frederick and I don't usually wait more than 15-20 minutes (and that has only been once or twice) to be called back. Usually it is only about 5-10 minutes. They schedule properly, instead of trying to cram in too many patients. They do have walk-in hours in the evening, which can have you waiting longer, but that's because it is walk-in and there are no appointments. I don't know if PF is too far for you, but this office is worth it, IMO.

I also go to Calvert Internal (usually the Dunkirk office) and have not waited very long there either, but don't really go but a couple of times a year. We are there every other week (it was every week up until a couple months ago) for allergy shots, though, and I will say that patients are not typically kept out in the waiting room for more than maybe 15 minutes. There are those abnormal days where they have been a little more backed up, but I'm there enough to say that their typical wait is not very long. Their Solomons office would not be too far for you. It might be worth looking into.

Fine hot coffee - keep the good doc for yourself... :boxing: :cds: LOL I understand why you wouldn't want to post if he's a good doc. To be honest, I am more concerned about finding a good pediatrician for my daughter. I figure that even if I get a crappy primary care doc, most of them aren't willing to deal with stuff anyway so they just transfer you to a specialist. I've been to a few specialists, all of whom I've liked. And I don't mind looking around for a while for myself, or even having a bit of a wait to see the doctor.

I'll have to check out Bayshore. I don't mind driving to PF - I'd love to find something closer by in Leonardtown/California/even Charlotte Hall but I'm not willing to wait for hours with a sick child. Or with a well one for that matter! I don't mind half an hour, even longer if there is an emergency with another child. But to have to wait because they have booked 3 people in for the same time slot - nope. It seems greedy that they triple book people in for appointments.

I was very lucky in that until my daughter was in kindergarden she went to Davidsonville Pediatrics for all of her checkups....

We've been equally lucky that she has been healthy since then.... I don't have a pediatrician here... but NASR is taking pretty good care of the little things that bug her... He's right here in the neighborhood so that's convenient... I'd like to change her over to my doctor... but he's a little further away... and hubby like Nasr...

I have been using Dr. Kirit (sp) Patel for close to 5 years as a pediatrician, hes in the building out on its own next to the McKay's in Leonardtown. The only time he sent us to a specialist was for a surgical consult. I have always liked him and when you need to get in quickly due to sickness or other emergencies, he will see you same day. He has always been quick also about responding to requests for shot records and any other paperwork we have needed. :yay:

If you do a search, there are lots of other threads on this and many others rave about Bayshore. There may be some others mentioned in those threads that are closer to home for you. I believe you will find most of them in the "Parenting and Children" section. Good luck.

Thanks :howdy: I've been keeping an eye in there too - I think the problem is there just aren't many pediatricians in this area! Most of my friends use Sheth or Dillon but I'm just not down with the wait time. We are covered under the military docs for another 6 months or so, so I have time to look at least. :coffee:

Another question for a local (I don't consider myself that even though we've been here for over 2 years now LOL) We'll be living in Hollywood (St. John's Rd. area) - which is closer - Prince Frederick or La Plata?? I like the good buzz about Bayshore but I've also heard good things about a Dr. Jaime Ready (don't know if I spelled her name right) but I'm not sure if she's even a pediatrician or just a general doc......

Sorry OP I think I've hijacked your thread... Have you found a new doc yet?
