If you coat cheesecloth in butter and place it over the turkey while cooking it helps keep it moist and the skin from burning but lets it get crispy. Then you will not have to worry about basting.
Is this better than using a oven roasting bag ?
Yes. It is amazing the turkey is just fantastic this way!

Best yet is I no longer do Thanksgiving. I go to my sister's home and three different people make turkeys (all men...I think they are in competition... Deep fried, smoked, etc)

The bird was super juicey! Didnt do nothing fancy it was prefect!.....all the rest of the trimings were great too.....now with that said....never again will i do a turkey! Lol

OK you win! I concede to your greatness. Mine had lumps too. Impossible to get all the lumps out.Probably had the texture of Elmer's Glue.
My lumpy 'taters had no leftovers.
