Scanner help please

son got me a police scanner for x-mas, its a radio shack pro 94b. been trying to listen in on fire and police calls but cant figure it all out. went to radio shack for help they said i couldnt get the signal on the radio i have cause its digital. talked to a few people and they dont have the same radio and dont have a digital radio either but yet they can hear all the calls. anyone know of or can help me program this. son keep sasking me why we cant listen to his gift lol. thanks ahead of time

The Radio Shack in the Square has all the info for SMC radio system. They will computer program the scanners. All of the county is on the 800 Mhz trunked system. Fire and EMS pager works on 154.98 Mhz. Msp also uses the trunked system but has it simocast on the lo band freq.

To listen in St. Mary's County, you need a pro 95 scanner or a pro 97. The pro 97 is a newer version of the pro 95. I have both and pick up everything.
