Trump Taj Mahal Casino to Close, Eliminating 3,000 Jobs

Ubi bene ibi patria
"ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Donald Trump has been gone from Atlantic City for years, but his name has lived on in glowing neon on the facade of a casino he no longer owned.

But later this year, the Republican presidential nominee's name will disappear from the seaside gambling resort — along with 3,000 jobs.

The Trump Taj Mahal casino, opened 26 years ago by Trump, announced Wednesday that it will shut down after Labor Day. The business now belongs to Trump's friend and fellow billionaire Carl Icahn, who decided he can no longer support a casino losing millions of dollars each month amid a crippling strike.

Icahn told The Associated Press Wednesday he has lost nearly $100 million on the Taj Mahal in the past 18 months, including money he spent to keep it afloat during bankruptcy court before he even owned it. "

So let me get this straight. You are trying to say that Carl Icahn's business failure has something to do with Trump? You are a special kind of stupid.

1) How is this Trump's issue? He no longer has any interest in the business.

2) The laid off people will still be alive. Can't say that about Hillary's ventures.

Atlantic City's been in a downturn for some time. 1/3 of the casinos closed down two years ago. Those closings helped a few casinos, but a majority of them have lost money. I think the Taj owner said he lost $100 million.

It was bound to happen.

And PS, it has nothing to do with Trump. Don't forget that part.

I thought that was clear in the OP, but I'm sure people skip over whatever nhboy posts.

Umpteen brazillion newspaper and website marketers can't be wrong. They know that the headline is what sticks, regardless of what the story actually says, if anyone even bothers to read that far.

What most people will see is "Trump Eliminates 3,000 Jobs" and start freaking out and making memes to throw out on social media. Trust me on this, I'm a professional.

Atlantic City used to be nice, in the Fifties. Used to go there with my parents on a Sunday, walk the Boardwalk and eat at Hackney's. Early Sixties it went down and has never returned.

How so? Be specific.

DAMN! You want him to provide evidence and someone else asks for a link to dirt on the Bush twins on the same day. We'll find this idiot cowering in the corner sucking fingers and weeping.

When the Steel Pier burned it was over for Atlantic City. My wife and I went there for our honeymoon in the early 60's. It was fine,.

Trump was smart to divest himself from the AC casino industry when he saw that both PA and MD were going to legalize gambling.

The license deal that allowed the investors to keep his name on the marquee wasn't that smart.
