Tourists are once again getting into trouble in Italy, with two American women caught carving their names into Rome’s Colosseum.

The Californians, aged 21 and 25, snuck away from their tour group on Saturday and began scratching their initials into the amphitheatre with a coin. They managed a “J” and an “N” around 8cm high, before taking a selfie with their handiwork.

The Californians’ lawbreaking comes little over three months after a Russian tourist was caught carving a 25cm letter into the Colosseum. The 42-year-old was given a four-month suspended prison sentence and a €20,000 fine, although owing to a lack of funds he has not paid the penalty.

The Russian was the fifth person to be stopped for defacing the ancient monument last year, with others hailing from Australia, Brazil and Canada.

I wonder if they are related to these 2 dunderheads.

A pair of American tourists were pinched by Italian police when Fiumicino airport authorities in Rome discovered a stolen Pompeii relic in their luggage, reports the Local.

The massive artifact, which was removed from a building at the historic site, weighed more than 65 pounds, but that wasn't about to stop the thieves from smuggling it on board an aircraft and back to the States. Luckily, airport security noticed the piece in the tourists' rental car, and realized something was amiss.

ugly americans

But wait, there's more......

A U.S. tourist has been arrested for trying to bring home rocks and what he thought was debris from a beach in Turkey.

Jason Dement, 30, from Mississippi, was stopped and questioned at Antalya Airport when airport security found a piece of marble and what may be a piece of old masonry in his luggage.

The Turkish authorities charged him with trying to "smuggle historical artifacts," reported the Telegraph.

While his wife was allowed to leave the country, Dement now faces up to 12 years in prison.

look what I found

And it's not just Americans ......

Not content with seizing hold of Europe’s export market, Germans have gone a step further by making off with one of Venice’s gondolas.

The couple, aged 23 and 24, took the gondola near the Danieli vaporetta (water bus) station and got as far as the little island of San Giorgio, after paddling in a roundabout route that took in St Mark’s Square and the Giudecca island.

"gondola in 60 seconds"......... HUGE groan....

The Gondola wasn't stolen it was taken for a joy ride. They had no intention of keeping it.

Still it was unauthorized use, and punishment should be rendered.

Pretty stupid stunt.
