Verizon wireless internet problems?

Hey I was wondering if anyone else was having problems with Verizon wireless internet. In most cases it will stay on through the night but doing the day it keeps getting kick off and we need to reset the router like 50 times just to do something like check email or look at a map. We think it has something to do with the collage's wifi but I wanted to ask it's it just us or anyone else having this problem with routers dropping the signal

I'm up in PA and (in the past) had the same problem but it eventually works itself out. I just went through a few days of my Broadband dropping off completely, etc. The end result is it eventually works through the problem. So, I don't think it is your router (or card) - it appears to be a Verizon problem. Maybe they are doing maintenance, having tower problems, etc. I wouldn't change anything and give Verizon some time to finish whatever they are doing.

Exact same problem, started about 2 months ago. Spent hours on the phone w the time consuming tech specialist reading out of a book. After a few days they said the problem was on their end, it worked ok for about a week then it started again. Yes resetting the router does work for few hours or less. Called them again this week and now they want to send a techician out. Already changed out the router, I have the filters in the phone jacks in place. I say the problem is on their end. Calling today for the tech to come out, my guess is going to be he won't figure it out.

I had nothing but problems with Verizon's DSL/Wireless internet service. After two different instances of them 'correcting' the problem only to lose my service again, I called Metrocast. Haven't lost signal once since I switched. Hope it works out better for you!

Had verizon internet service for a long time, it might be time to let them go soon. I was in the middle of a test, lost connection and had to start all over, WTF.

Yea he won't have access to verizon email. If he really wanted to change he could open a free email account with yahoo or gmail etc and forward all his verizon email to that, once he changes ISP he can forward all that email to his new email along with contacts etc. Some times we just hate the hassle of changing.

Also read this on the internet: If your email address includes the name of your ISP such as @aol.com, @msn.com, comcast, attbi, earthlink and so on, that email address is tied to that ISP forever. The only way you can keep that address is to keep some kind of account with that ISP

I really do mean our connection is really bad. It will stay connected through the night and in the morning but around 10 am or so it'll drop the signal and it won't reconnect till in the evening. We would reset the router (Yes the big black box) and it would connect briefly like 3 or 5 minutes then die again. I literally have to go to the collage just to use the net

When Verizon works, it's great BUT when it craps out you are at the mercy of possibly the most disorganized company in the entire Universe. Seldom will you get an honest/factual answer until the guy in the truck shows up. Unfortunatly, the choices are slim (in Calvert). The guy in the Comcast truck is why I switched to Verizon.

Thats usually the the time (10am) when it seems we lose our connection, but it comes back usually under 5 mintues and then maybe stay up 10 mintues and then it happens again. Seldom do we have this problem in the evening or overnight.

Verizon really wants everybody on FIOS. That's where they've put all their efforts and resources. Other services are 'just until' for the customers.

Mine will stay on longer than 5 minutes after restarting the box, it varies, could be 5 minutes could be 2-3 hours, but it is used more in the afternoon. Still thinking it is a verizon problem.

Oh so they are just f ing w us hoping we will beg for verizon FIOS, they will loose more customers if that is their agenda. But it is fun talking to Tech support while she is sitting in Saudi Arabia.

Prob'ly stating the obvious here; but FIOS isn't available in ALL areas of St. Mary's. I don't know about Calvert and Charles.

Well first you need to track down the real problem, is it the modem/dsl connection or the wifi connection. Most people have that tall black box that is both a modem and wifi router integrated together.

Turn off the wifi and and connect directly with a lan cable if still same problem its the dsl connection. If problem go away when hard wired to modem its the wifi.

Have a local computer geek do a wifi audit to see were the problem is at, Most will use BACKTRACK to sniff the traffic in your area. It is very likely that another wifi network close by is on the same wifi channel as you causing interference to your network the fix could be a simple channel change (try it yourself).

Many networks are invisible to most users for security reasons and can only be detected by sniffing with correct type software and hardware, (AUDIT)

Could be lots of things like someone using your connection to run peer to peer aps and overloading the router.

Verizon was having widespread issues from yesterday. My DSL was dead when I got home last night. I called support, and was up about an hour later.

1st time I've ever had an issue with my DSL line, and they jumped right on the repair.

If that is so, they better start making it more available. It is available to a new subdivision less than 1/2 mile from my house but not to me.

I hear you. My parents pay for 3G and are stuck on national access 90% of the time. The funny thing is, my cell phone has no problem getting a 3G signal at my parent's house.

So they leave me a message about sending a tech out. They call again later while I am in the car and say are you still having problems, DUH. I say aren’t you going to send a tech out. She says we need to know what kind of tech to send out, I say I have been talking to Verizon tech support for hours on the phone the past few weeks and your telling me you don't know what kind of tech to send out, wtf. So they want to call me this afternoon at home to figure out what tech to send.
