After I buy something online, I see ads for it everywhere online. FB, here... Look, internet, I already bought that so why are you hounding me about buying it again??

The ad bots only know you looked at it, they don't know you bought it. If only 1 of 1000 gets you to buy from them, they make money. Their overhead is already covered.

I ordered a bunch of shirts from Duluth Trading Co. for the guy's Christmas presents this year (tech gifts are a no-go, see tech thread :coffee:). I was showing him something on here, and as he was scrolling, one of the ads was for Duluth Trading Co.

As I'm trying to inconspicuously take back my iPad before he sees it, he points at it and starts talking about how much he loves their shirts and :blahblah: and I'm trying to act like I've never heard of it before   Thankfully he wasn't paying much attention and didn't get the connection to why that ad popped up.

But there goes my credit for a great gift! He'll think I ordered everything after he told me about it, when I'd thought of it and ordered it all weeks ago. So thank you, dumb ads based on my browsing history :cussing:

And why is there a “Share video on Facebook” at the bottom of internet porn clips?

Grandma still won’t talk with me over that misclick. :bawl:

that's google and Fb monitoring your searches and serving you ads based on your searches.
I logged in my fb and gmail few times while in Sweden last year... I was getting for the next half of year swedish commercials everywhere.

Same thing happens if you browse foreign language sites

Threads like this remind me to spread the joy that is ad-block. Not only do I not see adds for what I just browsed- I dont see adds ANYWHERE.
However the best feature would be no adds on youtube. No guilt about not supporting whatever Im not supporting by blocking annoying adds.

Preach it.

Also periodically use this to clear out your browsing history, cookies, ect. : http://www.piriform.com/

It does clear out the cookies that contain your login information, so you have to re-log into some websites.
