The La Plata High School Marching Band recently competed in the USBands A Class National Championships Nov. 4 in Allentown, Pa. The team competed in the IIAA group. Over the past two years, the team has gained new members, a new band instructor and competed in the 2A class of state championship for the first time.

Charles Co. Merrill Presidential Scholars name North Point teachers as mentors who shaped their educational journey
North Point High School graduates were recently named Philip Merrill Presidential Scholars at the University of Maryland, College Park. Maryland seniors Aliah Brown and MaryAnne Onianwah — both 2020 North Point graduates — are among 20 students named as Merrill Scholars for 2023-2024.

Charles Co. Enrollment application for the 2024-25 school year now open for Phoenix International School of the Arts, information session planned for Nov. 6
The application window for students interested in attending Phoenix International School of the Arts (PISOTA) next school year is now open. PISOTA is the first public charter school with Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) and opened in August. The facility is located in La Plata and serves students in Grades 6-8.

Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) will celebrate the Class of 2024 during graduation ceremonies at Regency Furniture Stadium this spring.
