Maurice J. McDonough High School returned to the It’s Academic winner’s circle Nov. 30 at the end of the regional competition. This is the second consecutive year the Rams have taken first place in the local competition. The on-stage team was made up of Julie Perriello, a sophomore and team captain, and seniors Jean Hughes and Skylar Belisle. The team scored 280 points to secure the top spot. Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) will celebrate the graduating high school Class of 2023 during seven ceremonies at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf. Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) hosted its 2022 Middle School Archery Tournament on Nov. 18 at Milton M. Somers Middle School. The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) is leasing one of its buildings to Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) starting Jan. 1, 2023. CCPS will soon utilize CSM’s former St. Charles Children’s Learning Center (CLC) to expand prekindergarten program offerings. A service opportunity disguised as a friendly competition among various departments in the building provided a total of 15,091 food items and monetary gifts for community members in need. Mitchell Elementary School found third graders in an intense game of battleship as their physical education (PE) teacher, Marty Margolis, observed — and at times joined in.
