The Board of Education’s next regular meeting is 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10. The Board will meet in person at the Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building in La Plata. Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is moving to a new school locator on its website, ccboe.com. Earlier this fall, 7-year-old Martin “MJ” Gusky Jr. came up with an idea to help other kids during the COVID-19 pandemic. Gusky is homeschooled, but has several friends who attend public school. He wanted to make sure they had supplies to stay healthy while learning. To accomplish this, Gusky launched Project Good Shepherd. The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) has released its dean’s list for the 2020 summer sessions. Students who have earned 12 or more credits at CSM are eligible to be considered for the dean’s list. Westlake High School is hosting the SAT exam in person on Saturday, Nov. 7. Any student who is registered to take the exam at Westlake should follow the guidelines listed below. The St. Charles High School meal site was closed today due to a heavy volume of early voting traffic. Meal service will reopen at St. Charles tomorrow. For the next week, St. Charles is relocating its food distribution to the bus parking lot near the tennis courts.
