I've always advised folks to leave their hummingbird feeders out as late as they can. Laurie M., in Mechanicsviie did just that and was really surprised to see this hummer come to her feeder. This bird has caused quite a buzz in the birding community and although it's not 100% identified (it could be a Rufous, Broadwing, or Allens) an attempt on January 1, 2008 will be made to capture, weigh, measure and band this little bird. The banding will be accomplished by a licensed individual sho has the experience and skill to do this job.
Why is it here? It's visiting relatives for the holidays!
