“Do You Remember?”: 40 Pics That Might Not Make Any Sense If You’re Too Young

We didn’t have that bowl - we had grocery store? china. The stuff you got for free as a loyal shopper, one piece at a time. Or was it from the bank? Don’t remember, but I inherited it so it’s in the attic for a later gift to my daughter if/when she gets married. Otherwise she will inherit it from the attic upon my passing.

I don’t remember any records that played at 16 RPM’s, 33 1/3, 45 and 78, but no 16’s.

Funny ...the shop that does my fuel injector servicing always includes two individually wrapped butter-rum lifesavers in the package when they return the injectors. Just got some last week.

We had I think just one or two 78's in my parent's collection - one was my MOM singing when she was younger and had her own local morning TV show. It was pretty poor quality and the only song I can remember on it was her singing "Paper Moon".

I remember having a 33 1/3 setting on my record player but records that size were before my time. Everything was 45 and LP.

For those wondering why 33 1/3 rpm and not some even number....
33 1/3 or 33.33333333 was chosen to be easy for both 60 Hz power as in US or 50 Hz in most of the world. As a stroboscope could be easily made. 180 dots in a circle gave 33.33333333 on 50 Hz AC and 216 dots for 60 Hz. then RCA invented the 7 inch disc at 45 rpm.

Dad had a collection of old 78s when I was a kid. One of them was "Open the Door Richard". He had given me that one, but I remember accidentally breaking it when I was about 8 or 9. Those 78s were fragile to say the least.

My dad had boxes of them that I had to clean out last year. Found a good home with someone who appreciated the old music. Complete collections in folding binders.

I may still have some in my attic. I believe my 45 collection is up there. They're probably all warped to hell and back. :ohwell:

They forgot the apple pin cushion, cookie tin sowing kit, either a picture or a clock on the wall made from burl wood, and this TV tray.
