Shoot, driving to Pigeon Forge is nothing with little ones in tow. We drove to Alabama a couple of times, the first time was when our oldest was 11 months old. Pigeon Forge is where we stopped for a breather when he couldn't sit still any longer. My parents have been going for nearly 20 years (sometimes more than once a year). They've always stayed at a hotel, usually the Vacation Lodge in Pigeon Forge. When I started going with them, I always got a room next to them. This would be my first time renting a cabin there. I want to get a nice one, I guess we should start saving now.
We usually left in the evening, shortly after dinner and drove through the night, taking turns. Once, coming back, we left late and stopped in Pigeon Forge for the night. Did some sight seeing the next day and left at naptime.
We can't do night driving much anymore. None of ours are babies anymore and one of them doesn't sleep well sitting up. It was a lot easier when they were little....fewer potty breaks.
