1st Quarter Report Cards

In what grade do kids start getting report cards for the first quarter of school in Calvert Co? My son is in the 2nd grade and apparently is still having Parent/Teacher conferences instead of getting an actual report card. I got a notice the other day saying I needed to choose my conference time.

I dont live in Calvert but I assumed all schools were the same. My daughter has been getting a report card since prek. I still have the choice to do a conference if I want but that doesn't take away the actual report card.

No, atleast for Patuxent Elementary, parents have to schedule a conference with the teacher. 2nd-4th quarters they get an actual report card. Nothing like having to take 2 hours leave from work to spend 5 minutes with the teacher to find out that my son is doing great and there are no problems. I would think the teachers would rather talk to the parents of students having issues. You only get 15 minutes to spend with the teacher so if your child is falling behind, you don't have alot of time to discuss it.

What do you mean? He will get one. He should have gotten one last year. They get report cards and have conferences.

I don't remember him getting a report card. Just remember the conference. I could have sworn the 1st quarter section were always blank on his report cards. Will have to double-check when I get home today. Thanks!

I have had 3 there and they have always gotten them except for Kindergarten. I think in K they got them 2nd and 4th quarter. This year my 2nd grader actually got an interim.

Dang... you're right. After thinking about it, the teacher gave me his report card at the conference. Geez, I just changed my siggy this morning and I've already made it come true.

So when do conferences stop? Next year, I'll have two conferences to go to because my youngest will be in Kindergarten. Of course, as the youngest enters Patuxent Elem, the oldest starts going to Appeal.

I have a Kindergartener @ PES. I just got my conference date and I wondered if they gave the Kindergarteners report cards... Guess we will wait and see at the end of 2nd quarter.

I will have all 3 of my kids in PES once the twins start next August. That should be interesting. Especially with 2 in the same grade, possibly same class.

I haven't made up my mind yet if I want them together or for them to be seperated... Choices, choices!

I called my daughter's middle school this morning to find out when conferences were being scheduled and was told they don't automatically have conferences when report cards come out, you have to request one. They don't have the capability to accommodate doing that. I was really surprised and don't quite understand that one. In AA county, at least for the first quarter report cards, they send out letters with a time and date (even in middle school).

Maybe St. Mary's is different. My forms have always said if you have any concerns to please schedule a conference. Its not mandatory.

My son has been freaking out all week telling me that he needs the juice boxes NOW!!! I told him that I'd get it on Thursday. I stuck it in his bookbag for tomorrow. Man is it heavy now. Glad he's the one who has to carry it tomorrow and not me!
