Harley & Deuce are gorgeous, friendly, happy young (3 & 4) yellow labs who need a home together SOON. The new baby has developed severe allergies to them..........and their owners are devastated. Both are neutered, have their shots, are house trained and get along with kids, cats, dogs. Harley takes anti-seizure meds ($10 per month) with no problems. They are playful and easygoing. Currently they are being boarded in Montgomery County- but the owners can't afford that for long. We want them to be adopted together.

Have you heard any news on the potential for the girls. :howdy:
Hopefully someone can take these two.

I could trade you for an Otter..but he's a bit more expensive to maintain..Cheezits, Lite are okay but damn $10/day habit is a bit hard to take.

I sent her the application and then I followed up w/another email to see if she rec'd it... I'm so hoping to hear from her!

I'm going to put a push email together in the next day or so on a number of needy dogs...!

So for now we need these 2 yellow guys to stay together...

That I don't know, the message just came out today... I would imagine probably a week/10 days (?)

Maybe the Lab Rescue of the LRCP could take them. In situations where the dogs have to be placed quickly they usually can find a foster home for the dogs in the meantime. They really do a great job finding the dogs good homes so it's certainly worth a shot. Here's the website:

I know I sound crass, but why do people get dogs and then have babies and oops? We are going to probably adopt an older smaller dog in the fall, when summer is over and we have no vacations, but for the life of me, I just don't get all these dogs being given up. It's a friggin committment for probably at least 10 years......and hopefully longer. We had Tipper for 14 years. We have to think long and hard before getting another dog and it will be an older one....no puppies here. Geez. These threads break my heart.

You don't sound crass, you're saying what needs to be said. Everyone comes up with a reason they can't keep their dogs and it's usually a reason that will make them look good. How do they know the baby is allergic to the dogs and not just the dogs' shampoo or something else? Did the baby say, "Hey guys these dogs are making me break out in a rash?" All babies break out in rashes, that's what babies do. They should just, at least, tell the truth and say they don't want to take care of two large dogs and a baby.

are you freaking crazy???
those dogs look completely loved, and i am sure it was with a heavy heart that the owners decided to give them up. I know some people are worthless pet owners who can't see the obvious commitments, but those dogs look like they have been loved a long time and it wasn't easy for their owners to give them up.

as for the allergies, what are you a doctor? you know they have tests for that sort of thing?

Yeah the breed rescues are really good about taking them. SMAWL if we get a dog that is purebred we also contact the breed rescue. That is how we got Gypsy(Austrailian Shep) a good home, through the rescue.
