20°

if you will
And the heating system in our office building has declared that it won't be raising the temperature above 62°.

Work has told us we need to be "green"...which means 20 layers, a blanket and I'm still freezing. I need to bring in some fingerless gloves and another blanket.

That is BS, so glad I have my little heater & it's allowed!

Yeah, that's going to make people productive. Sitting at a desk and sedentary - means you're colder! :frown:

I sit at a front desk - where the doors open and close a hundred times a day. :jameo: No space heaters have been allowed in the past. I think I will make a new request as the newer space heaters are not as dangerous as the older ones.

So jealous. If they find a heater they cut the power cord.

Good point. I'm trying to get going on some tasking but I can't concentrate on it so I'm trying to defrost first.

I'd rather they shut off the fluorescent lights versus turning the heat so low.

I think it's the same premise Icit, they'd cut the power cord if they saw it. Gotta be green.

38 in my neck of Tampa @0500. Might tie the cold record. Where is that "degree" symbol on keyboards anyway, or do you have to do a combination of strokes to produce it?

BadGirl

I am so very blessed
I have a small electric blanket on my lap right now, turned on the medium setting. I am nice and toasty warm.

The electric blanket isn't as obvious as an electric heater, and no one would even know it is a corded "appliance" just by casually looking at it.....they just think it is a regular blanket.

Hmm. I'll see if I can find a cheap one, so I won't be as angry if they cut the cord.

BTW, so far I'm doing okay, but I have the cold toe creep, first my toes, then the rest of my feet and now my ankles....Brrrrr. Maybe I need sock warmers!

I'm pretty sure your hubby can repair an electric cord.

are you in a cube farm ?

that wiring is not designed for 1/2 doz cold women to all be running heaters

actually around here, most of the buildings people work in on base were built decades ago and accounting for energy efficiency was never a top priority. Nor did they account for a central room to house all the servers and computer crap that has to be kept at a cooler temperature so they have to keep the whole building "cold". I'm not in a "cube farm" but my building if fairly old and all of our office rooms are beyond freezing even, dare I say it, the males around here complain about it too. :bigwhoop: And I'm in an office room with no windows. We're not allowed heaters here either but everyone has them AND keeps them in plain sight. I'm finally picking up a small one today to hide under my desk. If everyone else has one, I will too.

Go figure my last job was in a brand new building and it'd won all these fancy "green" awards and had a central room for all the servers so that one room was super cold and the rest of the building was usually comfortable. Except where I sat. I sat along the only north facing side that had these humungous super-special energy-efficient windows that required constant cool air blown on them...something about heat would make them fog up? I can't remember but all the air ducts above those particular windows, and my desk, were set on cool while everyone else was comfortable :ohwell: at least I had a view. I bribed a maintenance guy with some homemade lemon squares to discretely place duct tape over the vent above me.

True. I didn't really think about that.

A pair of wool socks over a pair of cotton socks works well.

Another Idea, get a heating pad. Then tell whatever jerk face that tries to cut it it's for your cramps because you might just start bleeding out our eyes at any second. They will leave you alone about it
