Talk me into (our out of) this bike!

Still love the Strat and have put 5,000 miles on it since mid May. That said, it has short legs, 4.5 gallon tank. I've never liked the gear ratios. Always searching for 6th and 2nd isn't low enough to lug through slow turns, 1st is too low. And I'm gonna have to do valve emulators or something for 2 up. Just way to bouncy. I'm a big guy and I'll ride it 200-250 miles days, no problem and am happy taking it to the bank or quick trips to the store. As big as it is, I am comfortable in tight places with it. I put highway pegs on it to stretch out. Mine has a tour pac and good saddle bags. Tour pac is MUST have on anything I get.

I WILL miss the v twin and I have been thinking about a '07 or newer HD for the 6 speed. My buddies shift less than I do. I will also miss stomping their guts out with 1800 CC's of Japanese fury. And, the Yami has been 100% reliable, ZERO problems or weird whatever.

Last time I rode a BMW, I almost bought it. Just didn't wanna buy new.

2004 is NOT a bad year. The new double spark 1150 motor.. Smooth.

But if you test ride a 2004, and a 2005 I think you'll notice a big difference. BUT for 8K I don't think you can go wrong. Most of the depreciation is gone, you can probably ride for a couple of years and MAYBE lose 1k in resale.

AND exceptionally easy to work on yourself. Save HUGE $$$$ over other bikes just in doing all your services..

Yeah, I went back and read what you wrote in another tread about the difference between the two. '05 sounds more better with the extra ponies.

What are we talking carrying capacity, weight? I know you've covered that too, but, I just don't feel like digging right now!
