My earliest memory is being put in a car seat. This was the 70's (I'm almost 33 now) and it was one of those forward facing seats with the HUGE panel that swung across you and was curved. I think it was more like a booster seat with a guard. It was in an electric blue Charger with white interior. Strange I remember all that. I hated it but at least my mom had enough sense to put me in one. I don't care if years ago people didn't use seat belts or car seats. I bet there are ALOT of parents who buried their kids for this exact reason. We've learned alot since then and just because it was done when we were kids doesn't make it right. I really don't know of any parent that would sit their 4 month old baby on their lap while driving and think it was ok. My father used to take pics for the PG county police dept in the 70's. He always talked about an accident he went to and the kids were rear facing in the back of a station wagon when they were rear ended. Yeah, the kids were cut in half hanging out the back.
