Have you read the Koran cover to cover? He has, and has quoted it for me in discussion. I'd believe his interpretations before some random website with your screen name, no citations, or a suggested place [edit: aside from inside the site itself] to read excerpts from the holy text.
Yes, luckystar, I have indeed read Three (3) Versions of the Qur'an, cover to cover: Pickthall, Yusuf Ali and Shakir
as well as the Ahadith (collection of sayings of the Islamic prophet, Muhammad) that include Sahih Bukhari; Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawud, and Malik's Muwatta.
Possibly you only skimmed a quick glance at the website
Research and happened to overlook the numerous references included directly from the Qur'an, Ahadith and Sunnah. On the last page, there is a directory listing of where you can read the translations on line for your self and compare them to the Internet references in my treatise.
As stated before, I am sure that your Muslim friend is loving, peaceful and compassionate. Please have him show you his Qur'an and compare the sayings to the following examples:
“Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority: their abode will be the Fire: And evil is the home of the wrong-doers!” (Qur’an:003.151)
“And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they cease, verily Allah doth see all that they do.” (Qur’an:008.039)
“The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;”
(Qur’an:005.033)
“Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them." (Qur’an:008.012)
“O Prophet! rouse the Believers to the fight. If there are twenty amongst you, patient and persevering, they will vanquish two hundred: if a hundred, they will vanquish a thousand of the Unbelievers: for these are a people without understanding.” (Qur’an:008.065)
“Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost.”
(Qur’an:047.004)
Take No Prisoners:
“It is not fitting for a prophet that he should have prisoners of war until he hath thoroughly subdued the land. Ye look for the temporal goods of this world; but Allah looketh to the Hereafter: And Allah is Exalted in might, Wise.” (Qur’an:008.067)
“Say to the desert Arabs who lagged behind: "Ye shall be summoned (to fight) against a people given to vehement war: then shall ye fight, or they shall submit. Then if ye show obedience, Allah will grant you a goodly reward, but if ye turn back as ye did before, He will punish you with a grievous Penalty." (Qur’an:048.016)
Muslims threatened with punishment by Allah if they do not fight:
“Unless ye go forth, He will punish you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place; but Him ye would not harm in the least. For Allah hath power over all things.”
(Qur’an:009.039)
“O ye who believe! what is the matter with you, that, when ye are asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, ye cling heavily to the earth? Do ye prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But little is the comfort of this life, as compared with the Hereafter.”
(Qur’an:009.038)
“Go ye forth, (whether equipped) lightly or heavily, and strive and struggle, with your goods and your persons, in the cause of Allah. That is best for you, if ye (but) knew.”
(Qur’an:009.041)
“Say to the Unbelievers, if (now) they desist (from Unbelief), their past would be forgiven them; but if they persist, the punishment of those before them is already (a matter of warning for them).” (Qur’an:008.038)
“But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Qur’an:009.005)
Muslims not to be friendly with Unbelievers (Non-Muslims) :
“O ye who believe! Turn not (for friendship) to people on whom is the Wrath of Allah, of the Hereafter they are already in despair, just as the Unbelievers are in despair about those (buried) in graves.” (Qur’an:060.013)
“O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell,- an evil refuge indeed.” (Qur’an:009.073 )
“And those of the People of the Book who aided them - Allah did take them down from their strongholds and cast terror into their hearts. (So that) some ye slew, and some ye made prisoners.” (Qur’an:033.026 )
“And He made you heirs of their lands, their houses, and their goods, and of a land which ye had not frequented (before). And Allah has power over all things.” (Qur’an:033.027)
And, of course: THE REWARDS for being Faithful to Al'lah:
"For them will be Gardens of Eternity; beneath them rivers will flow; they will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold, and they will wear green garments of fine silk and heavy brocade: They will recline therein on raised thrones. How good the recompense! How beautiful a couch to recline on!"
(Qur'an: 018.031)
"The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said: ' If anyone suppresses anger when he is in a position to give vent to it, Allah, the Exalted, will call him on the Day of Resurrection over the heads of all creatures, and ask him to choose any of the bright and large eyed maidens he wishes.'"
(Sunan Abu-Dawud Book 41, Number 4759)
"Verily for the Righteous there will be a fulfillment of (the heart's) desires;
Gardens enclosed, and grapevines; And voluptuous women of equal age;"
(Qur'an: 078.031 - 078.033)
"But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah, For them is a Sustenance determined, Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, In Gardens of Felicity, Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity):, Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom., And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. (Qur'an: 37.040 - 37.049)
"We have created (their Companions) of special creation. And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), Beloved (by nature), equal in age,"
(Qur'an: 056.035 - 056.037 )
Yes, these are actual verses in the Qur'an!
