Though he has some good songs, just don't see him as a good concert performer worthy of the asking price for the tickets.

Music appreciation is in the ear of the beholder. What somebody loves can be what another hates. I have seem many concerts at the Calvert Marine Museum and can't think of any I didn't enjoy, especially not having to drive hours home in addition to the time just getting out of the parking lot. And since it is local, you get to socialize with lots of your friends.

You did get me thinking, though. One of the best concerts I ever went to was *gasp* KennyG. VERY talented performer when allowed to show his true range and gets away from the schlock that made him famous. The worst concert I have gone to was - bar none - Aretha Franklin. She came out very late and only did a few songs, with a lot of lip syncing, while the rest of the concert was projected images of her with taped versions of her songs.

To paraphrase Forrest Gump: live music is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get.

The other worst was that concert we went to. :rosemakesboycry:

My other worst was Chuck Berry. I saw him at a winery in California back in the 80's. He came in late then threw a temper tantrum because he wasn't happy with one of the musicians that had to sit in for one of his crew. Mr. Stompy foot then left the stage and that was it! :tantrum

My first wife and I were dating in JHS and we saw Berry with JL Lewis at Colt Field House, Springsteen was the opening act and after a delay the also were Barry's band.
Her fathers law firm had a sky suite at Cap Center, we would go to at least two concerts a month back then.
All this makes me miss places like Psyc Deli, The Underground, The Cellar Door and so many great places around DC to see music.

Did you ever attend the jazz fest in NOLA, or go to The Warehouse? Just wondering.

No, my first trip to NO was probably in the early 90s, after The Warehouse closed and was torn down. Sounds like it was a great venue back in the day.

Going to the NO jazz festival is high on my bucket list. I have been to Preservation Hall a couple of times, though. Amazing place with lots of history.

Yes, Preservation Hall has an awesome history, and is so much fun! Hope you can cross the Jazz Fest off your bucket list, someday.
