I live with someone that has had it done.. and work with a couple too.

Excited is good, but it's lifechanging (99% for the better)

I know a few who had it done..they look great and have stopped many medications. It is a tough road..and they fight to not become complacent..but they are so much healthier for it! Good luck.

EVERYTHING changed.

The least of which was the body size.

The energy level, the creaking knees..

But the diet (and this isn't a No-DIet solution) was the biggest change. There are certain things she can't eat, and especially drink, and I'm sure you've been told, and have been given the list, but you're probably going to try a few of your favorites that are on the list, and you'll pay for it.

No carbonated drinks at all.. Bread does WEIRD things to you.. (but remember everyone is different).

By life changing, the surgery is a helping hand, a good start, but you have to change your ways for it to work for the long term. You CAN eat your way through it and end up right back where you are now.

BG has a scale always handy (one for her, and one for her food) and if she senses she's gaining she checks, and gets out the food scale and goes back to the beginning again to get back on track.

It takes a LOT of dedication, and I'm incredibly proud of her and her success. She LOVES it, and her entire attitude abour her, and her self image has changed. She was ALWAYS a beautiful person to me, but now you can tell she believes it too.

Thanks all i'm just wanting my weight to drop overnight. I know its going to take some time. But i'm very dedicated to changing my lifestyle. Especially after going through all of this surely it'll be all worth it in the end. I would love to shop in regular stores again instead of having to go to Waldorf for a pair of jeans or shirt. My goal is to drop 150 or more by next summer.

Of course she was always very beautiful, but now she's got a wicked killer bod. :hot:

Will do :buddies: maybe I should've put the beer mugs up. I won't be doing that for a year... :coffee:

Beer is carbonated..

NOT a good choice, EVER. It's been over a year, and she still can't drink carbonated drinks..

Tea and wine.. Just remeber Pinkies up when you tip the glass!!

There IS a local support group here.. be worth your while if you aren't going already.

For some reason I get the feeling I know you already.

I am a local you might know me. I saw that there were a local support group outside of gate 1. Anything beats having to drive to D.C. but I think the doctor wants me to attend his support group for the 1st year or so once a month.

my sister (34 y/o) did it. She made herself gain like 15 lbs to qualify. She does not exercise and still smokes. I think for a lot of people it's just a short cut that a healthy lifestyle would lead you to.

She did not have any complications that I am aware of. Been about 1.5 years.

I've had two sisters that have done it. One was almost a year ago, and to date she has lost nearly 100 pounds. One just had it done a week before Christmas, and to date has lost nearly 70 pounds.

Good luck to ya!

It is a not a easy fix either. The surgery is a tool. You still need to be accountable for what you eat or drink.

I haven't had it done but know several people that have had it done. Some of done fantastic on it. It totally changed their lives and whole way of living. Others not so much. It all depends on what you put into and want out of it.
