If I were going to get a 22 pistol, I'd go for the Ruger Mk III...probably the Hunter model for the fluted bull barrel:

the mark III is on the short list, probably go with the target or the competition though.

Some folks complain about the Ruger MK3 take-down and assembly but honestly if you can put together boxed furniture you can do it. Just follow the instructions the first couple times and you will remember how to do it. The mag disconnect makes it so you have to take the mag in and out a couple times but it's no big deal.

Just don't take it apart and leave it that way cause it will be harder to remember how to put it back together.
