$2G Ride?

Railroad

Routinely Derailed
Okay motorheads, I'm looking to spend very little on a car or truck which can handle winter road conditions and do local-only driving. Knowing $2k doesn't buy much, I'm curious about what $2k WILL buy.

Obvious, with 2K, you can buy an inspectable car XX, or a better, non-inspectable but repairable better car yy. When I bought the Geo Storm, it needed a motor mount and a muffler. Got me about $300 off the price, cost me less than $100 to fix myself, since the exhaust was $70 and the motor mount cost me $10 for some 3M Window Weld to fill it. Inspector bought off on that since it was the rubber that had failed, and new ones cannot be had.

Still tons of cars left, aps. Even a picky bugger like me can find fun to drive stuff in that range.

get a spare set of steel wheels with some actual winter tires and you should be able to handle most anything we have here

Concur, the amount of times I have actually needed a 4 wheel drive is zero. Now having one is fun, and lets you do stuff, but you don't need it.
