I was listening to a radio show the other day - and the number came up from Trump's trial.

How did they come up with such a number? There's no injured party. I'm hard-pressed to even think of an actual law being broken - near as I can tell, Trump overvalued his assets to secure loans. I don't know how these were determined - to me, valuing an asset like real estate meanders well into voodoo and hokum - kind of like valuing art.

But the loans were paid, with interest. The banks made its money - they are not complaining about fraud - and they're not getting any of the 355 million.

So how did they come up with the amount?

It's the estimated amount Trump has that is easily liquidated. Yup. It's like the guy at the store selling you something and saying it's worth all the cash in your pockets and in your checking and savings. The number isn't related to ANYTHING - except the biggest amount they can hurt him with.

This isn't even close to "justice". Justice would be to make sure those injured got what was due them. They just want to hurt him. NOW they're talking about barring him from doing business there and taking his properties.

Why is it NOT about justice? Does anyone believe they would bother pursuing this, if he decided to drop out of the race, tomorrow?

In her presser yesterday she stated the State may go to court to seize Trump's assets, and that the money is for the people of New York. The people of New York were not the victims.

Oh yes there is....the DEMOCRAT party.
He did serious injury to them starting in 2015 and it continues today...

Well yes they were.

When banks give one person a loan at a low rate they have to make up the money elsewhere. Through overdraft fees, ATM fees, fees for checking and fees for ordering checks. He lied about the value of his property and the banks lent him money based on that. Had they had to foreclose if he didn't pay them back they would have lost money. To hedge against this risk they make other people pay.

The charges always get passed on to the little guy.

The idea that there was no "victim" is nonsense. Is there a victim when you get a fine for speeding? Driving drunk? No but you broke the laws of the state and are required to pay a fine. The fine goes toward paying for the upkeep of the regulations, police to enforce , the institutions that actually do the paperwork.

Judge "how much cash do you think he can come up with quickly"
DA "probably about $350M"
Judge "let's tack on another $5M then"
