More of the case hinges on the extreme lowballing of the value of Mar-A-Lago - incredulously valued at a mere 27 million.Dare I ask if anyone can show me where a victim is required in the language of the fraud statue(s) he violated?
I’ll wait.
I don't know tax or real estate law - I know that the "assessment" was based on the income generated by Mar-A-Lago as a private club - that's how it works. There are MUCH smaller pieces of property RIGHT NEXT TO MAR-A-LAGO that are "valued" at greater than 18-27 million. Hell, there are completely UNDEVELOPED pieces of land in Palm Beach worth 50-170 million.
So the question becomes, is Mar-A-Lago worth 27 million, based on the INCOME it creates? Or 400-600 million, based on the actual land it sits on?
Because there's really no question, if anyone needed to SELL Mar-A-Lago, it would fetch at least that much.
I'm still concerned that Engoron's MAIN beef with Trump - well, aside from the rather obvious TDS - is that Trump "wasn't remorseful".
THAT IS HIS BASIS? When did he become a judge? The Middle Ages?
