Oh, BTW

...be sure to use HDMI cables as much as possible. They'll give you the best possible picture/audio quality. You don't have to buy the $50 and over brands, either...a digital signal is a digital signal. I bought some "cheapies" (G.E.) at Target for around $15 or so, if that. :yay:

I found a tv that I am ready to purchase based on price inch and color and it's very pretty and sheeny. Click Here?
It's pretty. I like those, if for no other reason than the fact that they don't take up alot of room.

You have to be a TV watcher to appreciate HD, right? :confused:I never watch TV, I need an HD computer screen :nerd: We do watch movies though and the kids watch TV so I guess in another month or so, I will be TV shopping :dead:

You know what my living room is like. So, it's just for show. On occassion I will come down and watch a movie with my son but depending on the content, rating and subject I watch them upstairs and let him watch his own movies downstairs.

I just ordered a box for his room from DirecTv $52 (gonna see about that though) and he will get a new tv/vcr/dvd combo for his bday. His tv 13" tv/vcr will be going in my new excercise room since my workout tapes are all VHS and the tv currently in the L-room will be up for grabs to a good home.

Hopefully, by summer I will be able to buy his new bed, a decent futon for the exercise room if it will fit and the company will take away the bunk and the bed that's in the 3rd bedroom. Futon is pending that I can get it in there with the exercise equipment.

No, the new LCD will be for the living room and he will get a tv/vcr/dvd combo for his room and he is getting Directv installed in there as soon as they realize I paid and call me to schedule then I try and bow out because they're asking for too much and I want a refund. I should've wired his room when I first got the move-in special 2yrs ago for up to 4 rooms for $14 even if I wasn't ready to activate the box. Hopefully, they cut me a deal this time around too.

I am only doing all of this so he and the oldest can stay out of the living room and I can maybe keep my LCD TV for a little while. :twitch: Can you tell I've thought deeply about this.

BIL has the Pioneer 60" w/ a hookup to Dish Network HD and a killer surround system (Klipsch speakers). I think Larry and Otter summed it up best with "un-^$*#(*% believable". I don't think I left a wet spot though. :lmao:

Do you have two cable boxes? If not, I'm not quite sure of your setup. I have a HDMI going from the cablebox/dvr directly to the tv, with the TV then hooked into the surround sound. Try to use HDMI connections as much as possible. (I think I'm going to have to spring for a new receiver with more HDMI input/outputs...just to maxmize that connection.) Component video cables with digital audio would be the next best after that.

I have component video cables and the HD is awesome. HDMI is a money snatching gimmick.

Heh, I said snatching

Those connections will give you a great picture...but HDMI is not a gimmick. (Though paying too much for a "premium" HDMI cable is.) It is a better connection. I didn't believe it until I tried it myself, either.

You'll spend more on component video and digital audio cables than you will on the single HDMI cable you'll need.

Edited to add: Also, you'll need a HDMI cable if you're planning on using an upconverting DVD player.

Component cable is not capable of transmiting 1080P. If you are using component cable your max resolution will be 1080i
