911 Information

I was not to sure about where to post this topic so if it isnt in the right spot I apologize.

I am currently a free lance writer investigating into the use of calling 911 and how the system works. Looking for information online is difficult and limited. Is there anyone out there who can help me?

For instance where does funding for 911 come from? Is it different for every county? Are 911 records avaliable in an online data base? Are they considered public records? Is there anyway to find out over the years how many calls have been made to 911 in certain counties and if they have been answered?

How are the calls routed? What happens when you get a busy signal?

Has anyone encountered a busy signal and suffered from it physically because of the emergency? Willing to talk about it?

Any information you can give me on the 911 technology would be great,
Thanks so much for your time!

Contact your local 9-1-1 center to get the information you are seeking. They have a record of the number of 9-1-1 calls along with the type of call, whether police/fire/ems. Tell them what you are doing and I am sure they will be glad to help you.
