Proponents of the .45 caliber will say that they prefer the bigger round because it would have a higher possibility of hitting a vital organ. With only that reasoning, sure that’s hard to argue against. But factor in this — According to the FBI, law enforcement officers miss anywhere between 70 – 80% of their shots fired during a shooting incident. Hard to win a firefight if you only have seven to eight rounds in a magazine no?
Well, there are some the have 45's capable of having 13 in the magazine and one in the pipe, such as the Springfield XD Tactical .45. That levels the playing field quite a bit.

For in the house, I'm most likely to get the riot barrel 20 Ga. we keep loaded with #4 Buck.
Have His and Hers.

In our near 40 years of marriage, have had to brace up an intruder only twice. 1st was in 1989 when we lived near Omaha, NE, 2nd was in 1993 when we lived near Dayton, OH.

The threat of the shotgun, having one in the chamber before confrontation, do not hold with the Hollywood fantasy of racking the slide, coupled with the High Intensity flashlight mounted to the tube magazine got them to follow my instructions and be still & quiet until the local LEOs came to take them away. Both times happened when the Mrs. was away on business as a USAF officer.

I own a few Para Ordinance pistols, like this P14 stainless Limited.
If you believe they are a game changer you should carry one with you for a few weeks 8-10 hours a day. You wouldn't carry one long.

Also, does anyone but me hear Warren Zevon singing "...he'll rip your lungs out, Jim" when they read Brandon saying "...a 9mm will blow a lung out of the body"?

No? Just me?

I mean yeah, but I hear that every time lungs are mentioned, sooooooo :)

As much as I love my 1911s, I can honestly say that I witnessed a .45 bounce back from a pin on a pin shoot and hit me in the leg.

I was not the one shooting. The culprit was another shooter using IDPA loads on the pins. :lmao:

Lost all it's energy at the rock maple pin and didn't even hurt.
