You didn't specify sail...:lmao: No, it was just a fiberglass hull of a powerboat.

Dr's a quick one ain't he? :lmao:

I would have liked to see the mythbusters boat use the air more efficiently than as a reaction motor. Use it to power a small steam engine and put a traditional prop drive on it...

It still takes power to compress the air, and almost all of that power comes from coal or oil. This is a "feel good" solution that does nothing to reduces emissions, it just moves them from the roads to the power plants.

Now if we had enough nuke plants to provide the clean power, this might be one of the viable solutions.

:yeahthat: Same goes for hydrogen fuel cells. They are nothing but different forms of batteries.

That would have worked well, push the compressed air thru a turbine that moved a prop. Much more efficient. However, I don't remember exactly what it was they were trying to prove at the time.

And just like battery cars the prop could compress air when you slow down!

Some country down in South America created one fueled all by compressed air. The cars are way to ugly to catch on in the U.S. though. Good concept...history channel has ran the special about it a few times last month. Problem: no profits in it for the large oil companies, it won't be coming to us any time soon.

Yes it will.........as soon as they can figure out how to make a big business out of it and how to tax the consumption.................

 Compressed air is not free. You will have to compress the air. You will either compress your own at home, which will use plenty of electricity and generate tax revenue. Or you will go to a filling station and buy the compressed air, which will be taxed.

If air powered cars were actually feasible, they could be in use now. GM would be happy to sell them to you, and Exxon-Mobile would be happy to sell you the air. They are not stopping this from happening.

NOT Politically Correct!!
The oil companies will buy the designs for billions and then use the paper to light their cigars leaving us with more of the same.
