A Christmas wish

frequentflier

happy to be living
On Christmas morning, I wish...

For every dog searching trash cans for breakfast, a
Filled bowl with his name printed in bright letters.

For every dog who slept fitfully last night, chained
In a frozen yard, a soft, warm bed with a person
Snoring gently nearby.

For every shelter dog, spending Christmas morning in a soiled run, a forever
home, filled with sounds and
Smells of family.

For every "Christmas" puppy given today, a tolerant,
Caring owner who won't abandon you as you grow into a real dog.

For every ailing pet, enough money for your owner to
Pay the bills to make you well.

For every lost dog, a clear, safe road, and well
Marked path, to lead you home.

For every old and tired friend, a warm fire, and a
Soft bed, to ease your aches and pains.

And

For every Heart Dog at the Bridge, a moment when you know that you are
remembered today, missed again, and loved forever.

How you treat your pets and animals in general says a lot about your character and general humanity. Anyone who would mistreat an animal is a bad person, same as anyone who would mistreat a child.

Most of you know the story of Apollo, and it breaks my heart to think of him running around by the highway dodging cars.

:huggy:That is beautiful and makes me miss my girl so bad, but I know she's at the Rainbow Bridge, chasing squirrels and rabbits and biding her time till I see her again. Merry Christmas to you and Apollo.

That's because dogs are appreciative and loyal, unlike people.

I think I like this new side to you in the dog world. :buddies: Welcome to the other side. Any plans to adopt another dog yet to keep Apollo company? Only then will you be a true dog lover, when you get a dog for your dog. I know, I've done it....... twice. :killingme

Dogs require more...maintenance, I guess, so it has to be the right dog in order for me to want to deal with it permanently. I like OPD but they never inspired me to get one of my own. It was just pure luck that Apollo came into my life. :yay:

My dogs came into my life for a reason also. I do believe the dog has to fit the person, for sure!

I am very happy you two found each other! Enjoy the unconditional love. I like cats ok, but they give conditional love, and only on their terms, when they want to. Dogs do it 24/7.

I never really realized what selfish bastages my cats are until Apollo came along.

But, and I have a grand dissertation about this rattling around in my head, the differences between cat people and dog people translates to human relationships as well. And how you interact with your pets is very similar to how you relate to your friends as well. Yes, there is always a deeper meaning with me.

It's been an interesting and enlightening few weeks having Mr. Perfect around. :yay:

It will only get better as you continue to bond. Congratulations on finding the perfect best friend you'll ever have.

You getting a dog surprised me. I really put you in the "cat people" category. Now if you come back to us later and say you've purchased a horse.........:killingme (No disrespect to the horse people, I've owned several myself and love them!) Then I'll have to re-classify you as true an animal nuttie!

I like animals, I just know my limitations and tolerance level. A large sloppy dog would be a no-go. Apollo is a small tidy dog with a lot of personality, so he's right for me.

Plus I can take him almost anywhere. I'm trying to talk Carlos into letting me bring him to Ruddy Duck but so far no joy. He's soooo unreasonable. People take their squalling children there, and Apollo is much more well-behaved than they are.

:yeahthat:

People that do not own dogs do NOT understand why my Lab needed a playmate other than me. Now, I am thinking about a playmate for her when the unfortunate day arrives for my boy.
