But apparently my coworker never learned that.

I was off work on Friday. 2 proofs came in for charts that I am in charge of. I saw that my coworker had marked them up a little. So, I went and asked if he was done with them. I knew that he was scheduled to be the 3rd set of eyes on them (each proof is checked by 3 people before it is approved for printing). I walked up to his cubicle and asked in a very nice voice "I saw that you have marked up the proofs, are you done with them?" He jumped down my throat about how I wasn't at work on Friday and it is my job to check them first. No sh!t shirlock, all I wanted to know is what the status of his review was. If both of the other people had completed their review, when I was done the proofs would need to go in the mail back to our reproduction division. If they were not, the proofs would need to be passed on to the next person in line. All I wanted to know was what to do with them once I was done with them. I have submitted a request to my supervisor to never have me work with this azzhat again.

Sounds like you work at the same salt mine that I do. If you have a day off coming up management "Requests" that you work overtime to make up for the time you are going to miss.

You could either tell him to "K.M.A sh*tbag" or my personal favorite,"Oh, I'm sorry you had to actually do some work." (say it with a smile) :elaine:
