Man Accused Of Slipping Woman Abortion Pill - Indianapolis News Story - WRTV Indianapolis

A married Wisconsin man has been charged with causing a woman to have two miscarriages by slipping her the abortion pill.

Authorities said the woman already has a 3-year-old child with Manishkumar Patel and had become pregnant by him two other times.

Authorities said the woman became suspicious of a smoothie that Patel had bought for her from an ice cream shop. She contacted police after having a sample tested by a California lab, which confirmed the presence of the abortion pill RU-486.

The newspapers reported that Patel is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide of an unborn child; second-degree reckless endangerment; placing foreign objects in edibles; possession of prescription drugs; stalking; burglary; possession of burglary tools and two counts of violating a restraining order. The burglary charge stems from his allegedly entering the woman's residence while she was out.

His attorney said he expects Patel to plead not guilty.

Ok, here comes the RED.
What difference does it make when SHE decides to use the pill and not inform him?? Heated issue.

Your posting in a thread that Pixie didn't start  You are on your way to a 12 step recovery program :yahoo:

I was thinking the same thing. In this case the father decided to have the abortion.

Of course he has no right to decide what to do with her body, but the question does bring up a good point. Any woman who would have sex with a guy named Manishkumar Patel isnt wrapped too tight anyway LOL.

Because he is fooling around with her body chemistry and there could be harmful side effects. Now I agree from a legal standpoint, that if abortion is legal, the homicide charge is questionable, but prosecutors have to try it... the rest of the stuff is enough to get him serious jail time.

The difference is he is not a doctor.

If she had no knowledge of what was in her drink, then she would not be able to tell ER docs if something went wrong.

You don't slip people medication that is not prescribed for them, period. Doesn't matter what purpose it is for.

I thought RU-486 is over the counter. On another subject, he is a married man, does she really think he would enjoy paying child support? Why not protect herself from getting pregnant?

Far from OTC- it's pretty strictly controlled. It has to be obtained from a clinic. He could have just as easily killed her let alone the baby. Not sure how far along she was, but it's more likely than not she was past the point where any doc would have given it to her.

I saw the same article on another news site that stated she was also an Indian immigrant. I know it's a culture that does not take kindly to divorce and remarriage. Why she put herself in such a position by seeing a married man and not using birth control? Who knows...still no excuse.

...difference in the world.

It is her body. It is her choice. It is not his body. It is not his choice.

Wow that is crazy :jameo:

Yes, it's definitelty crazy. I agree he could have seriously harmed her by giving her medicine without her knowledge and without telling her what he was doing. I don't know how far along she was but I wouldn't think repeat abortions would be a good thing either especially if they were close together. Yes, she could have been using some kind of birth control herself. It might have been against her religion or culture but I would think having sex with a married man would be too. Putting those things aside - this guy sounds like a real S.O.B. anyway judging by his track record and IMO had no right to drug her into abortions.

The guy was charged with illegal possession of a prescription drug.

That...

It is not her body. It is a baby, a separate life.

...baby is a separate life. It is, however, subordinate to the female. And you still can't force a female to want it or not. It is her choice. I think abortion is heartbreaking. I think it is barbaric. It is still her choice.

If she doesn't want the baby, she can put the baby up for adoption. Life must be protected from conception to natural death.

Which makes it even more horrifying to me that this man would put something in her drink to cause abortion not once but twice. It makes me think they had to know she was pregnant but the story is vague on that. Why didn't he just stay away from her and why did she continue to commit adultery with him? Nobody was taking any kind of moral responsibility of any kind here.
