Biden Energy Secretary Wants U.S. Military to Adopt an All-Electric Vehicle Fleet in 7 Years

Biden Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm testified Wednesday to the Senate Armed Services Committee that she supported requiring the United States military to move to an all-electric non-vehicle fleet by 2030.

When asked by Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) if she supported doing that, Granholm responded, “I do, and I think we can get there as well.”

She added, “And I do think that reducing our reliance on the volatility of globally-traded fossil fuels where we know that global events, such as the war in Ukraine, can jack up prices for people back home – it does not contribute to energy security.”

A retired Air Force officer tweeted:

As a former military member and Pentagon officer, this is what you get when you have political appointees appointed into these [senior civil service] positions – someone brain dead in charge of things but they are only in the position because they/family donated; fill a DEI quota; or related to a politician.

Weird reporting. It bounces back and forth between 'all EV non-vehicle fleet" and "all EV vehicle fleet".

Somebody needs to tell her to go write the plan, do the studies, and obtain the estimates of all impacts. She also needs to provide the charging plan for peacetime and war. to include deployment of portable backpack windmills and solar panels. That should keep her occupied until we can get her fired by Trump in 2024.

Why even bother getting upset about this? It takes more than 7 years to approve getting a new computer in the DOD, they aren't going to change over vehicles that quickly. Let alone have military vehicles designed and built and spread across 30+ states in that time.

Even if they mandated all new ground vehicles going forward must be electric, it would still take decades before it was a majority of the fleet.

It's still happening, just slowly. You've probably already seen a few of them by now.
The regular white mail trucks are ANCIENT. Like, 80's. I am not kidding. The fact that many of the oldest ones still run is astonishing.

But electric is actually perfect for mail - they never drive far from the office, the routes are the same, they stop and start frequently (regenerative braking), short range. You know, the idiotic way most liberals who use taxis think the rest of the car-driving country drives.

(I used to scream at the set when morons like George Will would pose "Gas is cheaper than a gallon of milk - Americans are just complaining over nothing" - and I'd answer, that's because you don't drive, idiot - when was the last time you bought twenty gallons of milk?).
