The regular white mail trucks are ANCIENT. Like, 80's. I am not kidding. The fact that many of the oldest ones still run is astonishing.
If that's the Grumman truck, that was part of the original design concept, long life. It's in the name, the Grumman LLV. But still amazing that they are still working after all this time and miles.
Unlike the Flxble Bus that Grumman acquired. I was on the team than processed the real-time data from their "normal" daily romps thru NYC. That thing was a POS and was breaking regularly. But the drivers didn't help the situation. We found the drivers would round a corner by allowing the rear tire to contact the curb, then using the curb to force the rear of the bus around the corner.
And no one could figure out why they were breaking axles.
