Accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior

Revelation 3:20 (door represents heart)
John 3:16

A couple of good verses....... :howdy:

Thanks NJ. I'm trying to make a point to a few sola scriptura forumites. It's not in the Bible, although it is certainly a logical (and right) conclusion based on what we do have in Scripture.
However, other teachings logically follow what we have in Scripture, too, but many say those beliefs are "extra-Biblical".

Oh ok. I don't believe any one church group has "all the answers" although some believe they do. I tend to believe that Jesus knows your heart and that will be the deciding factor as to whether or not you make it into heaven. Good luck trying to make your point!

Romans 6:23- we are all sinners and the only way to avoid separation from God is to accept his eternal Gift- his son Jesus Christ.
Romans 10:9 and 10:23 we must confess with our mouth that we are sinners and believe in our heart that Jesus died for our sins and we must call upon him and we shall be saved.

Accepting Jesus as our personal Saviour.

Ephesians 2: 8 & 9 We are saved by our faith, not by our works

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (KJV)

Romans 5:6-15 “For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.” (NKJV)

Romans 10:9-10 “…because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” (ESV)

Matthew 10:32 -33 “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” (KJV)

Acts 2:38-39 “Then Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” (KJV

Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks will find; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.” ~KJV Ad.

Romans 10:13
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (KJV)

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (KJV)

Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31)

13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. ( 1John 5:13)

21And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Acts 2:21)

16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (John 3:16-18)

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

All these biblical quotes are very nice, and a great way to start a productive Wednesday morning.

Although I have yet to see a biblical quote containing the words "Accept Jesus as your personal savior"

The original poster is looking for a verbatim quote by the Christ containing that phrase.

Everything else which implies the eponymous concept is a simply an interpretation, translated by man's delusional and error-prone mind.

The exact phrase is not in the Scripture. I personally do not use it in evangelism. I prefer to quote the Scripture directly and let it do the lion's share.

Romans 3:20-24
20For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.
The Righteousness of God Through Faith
21But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.

Luke 24:46-47
"Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations"

John 14:6
6Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Acts 4:12
12And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

Ephesians 1:7
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

Romans 10:9-13
if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame." 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Acts 26:20
repent and turn to God, performing deeds in keeping with their repentance.

However, that does not mean it is wrong to say such a thing, for it is obviously true that salvation is personal.
For it is written:

40Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. 42Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. 44Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Matt 24:40-44

And while I do consider Jesus Christ my friend, I believe that we must relate to Him first and foremost as King of kings as a sovereign/patron form of relationship.

That's because *Accepting Jesus as your personal savior* isn't used by most evangelists. That is the ones I know don't.

100% agreed!!

Too bad your Church doesn't agree with that, libby:

CANNON XII "If anyone saith that justifying faith is nothing else but confidence in the divine mercy which remits sin for Christ's sake let him be anathema!

CANNON XV "If anyone saith that a man who is born again and justified is bound of faith to believe that he is assuredly in the number of the predestinate (saved); let him be anathema "

CANNON XXI "If anyone saith that Jesus Christ was given of God to men, as a Redeemer in whom to trust, and not also as a legislator whom to obey, let him be anathema "

CANNON XXX "If anyone saith that, after the grace of justification has been received, to every penitent sinner the guilt is remitted, and the debt of eternal punishment is blotted out let him be anathema "

Where is that in the Bible??
I want the exact phrase as a command of Jesus'.

Jesus Invites people to accept Him as their personal Lord and Saviour; He does not "command" them as people have a free-will to choose. However, He makes it perfectly clear that His Message is that of being one's personal Lord and Saviour IF they want Him to be. Sadly, many people mock and ridicule God's Plan of Salvation.

For starters:

All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
(John 10:8-10)

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. (John 10:27-29)

I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. (John 6:35)

I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? (John 11:25-26)

All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (Matthew 11:27-29)

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

Good call on John 10:27-29. That verse definitely implies the personal nature of our salvation.

interesting that the sola scripture crowd is defending their interpretation with what they feel is "IMPLIED" in the bible not what is actually spelled out.

Hmmm... What of the following verse is not very clear to you?

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)
