Not as strange as it seems.

Recently, I was on safari in South Africa. I was looking through the lodge's photo album and noticed a hunter with a strange device attached to his rifle. I asked my professional hunter (PH aka guide) about it and he said the man would hold the rifle and the PH would look through the device and advise the hunter which way to move the rifle, and when to fire.

If you read the...

...article, it's reasonable.

Blind people play golf. Blind people walk around in busy cities. Blind people do all sorts of things that might, at first glance, seem kinda crazy.

Typical of any liberal, you reacted to the headline before reading the body of the article. It was the liberals who forced the Americans With Disabilities Act on the nation that drives initiatives such as this.

Grow up a little and do your homework (what is it this year, 9th grade?) before you try something like this again.

It's why they have braille notices on the drive up ATM at my bank!

of all these things mentioned, not one would have those around the blind person jumping into the bushes crying for devine intervention from God.

well, maybe the golf thing, but still, getting cracked with a stray golf ball might hurt, but,,, well, you get the point.

...only blind people shooting guns can be dangerous.

In other words, there are presently no instances, say like a vice President or something, where accidents and/or mayhem occur because blind people, at present, are not allowed to hunt, therefore it is safe. Right?

...out of that. As I can't read braille, I figure the dots probably say something like "Oh, you're in trouble now, pal!"

Naw, they say "park the car and come inside for assistance."

in one instance such as, say like a Vice President or something, we are dealing with stupidity.
In the other instance, say, blind or retarded ect.. we are dealing with an actual physcal handicap that should prevent them from engaging in certain activities.
would you toss a guy (lets call him Bob) with no arms and legs into the swimming pool just so he could have the same right to swim as you do?

actually, in an attempt at saving money, all the buttons for the machines are made with braille.
Some of the buttons end up in the stores, and some end up on the machines at the drivethrough.
Its just cheaper to produce only one set, so they all have the braille.

Is that what we're talking about?

...something a person physically can not do? 'Bob' can NOT swim. Our hunter, call him "Dick", can hold a firearm and can pull a trigger. All his friend, call him 'Spot', is doing is helping him aim and telling him when to fire.

If only spot would have been there for dick....

at any rate, I understand your point of view, but I must disagree with the whole blind person shooting a gun.
What enjoyment could come from it anyway? not that that question is really mine to answer in this instance.

Thank you.

I'm on the fence. In VraiWorld, you'd be able to pretty much do whatever you pleased. But the second it endangers someone else, it's an automatic death penalty. So Blind Bob can hunt all he wants, but if he kills or injures someone else, he gets whacked.

Make him think twice.

We just had another incident where a young woman with epilepsy killed a fellow motorist because she seized while driving (without a license because of her medical condition). Certainly she will be lightly spanked and sent back home, but in VraiWorld she'd get the chair.

I don't see the kick out of pulling a trigger to say, "yay, I took a life"

The feeling of independence, that they provided food for the table, making them feel useful... same as a sighted person hunting. Whether you pull the trigger or go to McDonalds you took a life, one way is just a little more realistic, bloodier then the more acceptable way.
