Do you really think that you are the only veteran in Southern Maryland? You think that there aren't thousands of us in SoMD that know exactly what that training consists of?

Keep on doubling down on your stupidity. It's gotten you so far already.
No I don't, I know there are thousand of vets here, you just seem like one of those REMF's types though.

If you were maintaining bombs back here in the states, you weren't even a REMF since they are at least in theater. What's the closest you got to the real thing? Sitting on a carrier 500 miles away?

Have you ever even had an AK in your face? Or did you just spend time on a range and think that makes you some kind of "expert?"

I think most of the arguement on here isn't against CCWs but this is probably not a situation where that would have mattered and stop trying to use it for a political agenda. At least that is my argument, that and there are probably a lot more arm chair Rambos that claim they could have done something that there really are.

Stop trying to use it for a political agenda? Every single incident that occurs is going to be used for a political agenda! Every single incident becomes another battleground over gun rights, CCW laws, gun control, gun bans, and mental illness. Theres no doubt that the president will say "more laws are needed" as a result of this incident. Im sure that more gun laws will become another hot topic in the Maryland legislature this year. Lawmakers will argue that more laws will prevent future tragedies, and criminalize gun owners for exercising their constitutional rights. Im tired of listening to defeatist posts about how we should wait, or why someone shouldn't say this, why they shouldn't do that. According to whom? Sir, don't wear your camouflage to a gun rally, don't wear your military uniform, or NRA hats, its what they want. It makes you seem "crazy." Maybe we should wait a few weeks and let people fill the news with anti 2nd amendment propaganda! Thats an idea. Its good for the cause.

The solution is to use this and every other incident that occurs as an opportunity just like the anti gun politicians and activists do. Its an opportunity to further make the case that more laws don't stop tragedies like this. Only armed law abiding citizens who are willing to act to stop criminal behavior will stop future tragedies like this. Speaking out about how restrictive laws are hindering the citizens rights to self defense against criminals doesn't lump "us" in with crackpots and crazies.

If we don't speak out against the erosions on our rights in times like this when its front and center, then when is a "good time" to do so? While I respect the families right to grieve, there is a more important broader debate taking place here, a debate that will affect the rights of your children and future generations to come. The debate is all about gun laws and 2nd amendment rights in Maryland and the United States. The news has geared up their anti gun activists for a week long onslaught of tirades demonizing shotguns, long guns, handguns, and any other "gun" thats sold. Obama and Piers Morgan will probably attend the funerals as a political stunt and say "I told ya so, legally bought, no criminal record, its further proof that guns should be banned in the United States."

If you aren't willing to stand up for your rights and freedoms that so many have fought to protect and put into place, then no one else will and they will be gone. Its then you will be labeled "crazy" for wanting to own a firearm, or "crazy" for wanting to carry a firearm for self defense purposes. You can bet that you will be lumped in with the crazies then, and now as the United States has started down that path.

Or, you will have people who see this for what it is. A situation where gun rights have nothing to do with being able to prevent it or having caused it. You will have ass holes who try to prop up their political agenda and then people who might be in the middle might get so sick and tired of these ass holes they decide to go towards the other side.

Naw, its just you.

Just me what, Tommy? It's not just me that thinks you are drunken wanted felon. The State of Maryland thinks that too. But you just keep hiding behind your sister's skirt. Are you going out drunk driving tonight? Maybe you can kill a family out there on the roads.

How can you be sure that another armed person wouldn't have prevented this guy from shooting the place up? If the cashier was armed, or a mall security guard who was armed and trained to recognize characteristics of armed subjects, someone who might have seen him walking around with a SHOTGUN! Gee, something is out of place with this guy, maybe I should keep an eye on him. If a citizen who was shopping was armed, they could have prevented this had they been shopping in the store.

This has everything to do with gun rights and laws. In Maryland where the state law and the Maryland State Police do not issue permits to citizens without good and sufficient reason, and self defense is not a good and sufficient reason to the Maryland State Police. Had people been issued permits, they could have been armed and stopped this from getting out of hand.

Yea because acting like an ambulance chasing, mail order lawyer will convince people you are right.

I'll laugh when they ban shotguns in Maryland and whatever else they haven't thought of yet. Anyone caught with over 10 rounds of ammunition will be subject to arrest. Seems like a good law for the legislature to pass. :yahoo:

I don't think anybody can be sure about your scenario of the armed person preventing this as as you can't be sure that that same cashier wouldn't have pulled out his or her sixteen round glock and started firing away and struck and killed 14 innocent people.

If you are going to politicize this, then politicize it honestly.

Yea, I sat on a carrier 25 miles off the coast, I worked the flight deck, worked the cats as CAG ARM and as a final checker. I have over 4 and half years of actual flight deck time, how many years do you have "in the field"?

I didn't need someone to point an AK in my face, I work in a place where there was a million accidents waiting to happen, and everyone one would kill you in the most violent way.

And we would even talk about the dangers of working on aircraft while even on land, ever almost been folded up in the landing gear of an aircraft or zapped by 363 VDC? I didn't have to worry about the enemy trying to kill me, I had enough things around me that would kill me, the enemy was my last concern.

Then be careful who you call a REMF. Nothing you described is front line. You are a lot of talk, but have nothing to back it up.

So lets politicize it "honestly." One thing is clear, it took the police at least 90 seconds to arrive on scene. This doesn't even factor in the time to go into the mall and whatnot. Average response time, 7 minutes maybe longer if its one of those pesky speed camera jurisdictions. Ask yourself, would you rather have a gun in hand or 911 on the phone? Lets examine the shooting in New York where bystanders were hit by NYPD gunfire, and more people were shot by the police than the shooter himself. Better shots than a cashier? Not quite.

You can't say that the cashier would or wouldn't have missed. Does the idea of citizens carrying guns for self defense purposes irk your nerves? Maybe your one of those types that doesn't believe in the citizens right to self defense. I understand completely now.

Well, back up your assertion that you weren't a REMF, what did you do in the military?

So far I've proven I served, all you have done is wasted oxygen and space.
