would like to exchange ideas and get information about tarot, spell crafting and rune crafting.

I'm not up on the crafts, but isn't that stuff kind of manipulative? I mean isn't casting spells and what not really getting people to do what you want through covert means? Like love spells, for instance.

It would be if it were real hehe

also, FYI I was joking in my first response, but since it got taken so seriously, I decided to roll with it a little.

I care as much about 'witchcraft' as I do any other religion, in that all fiction is at least a little fun.

I guess if you're casting spells on other people...I consider praying to fall into the same category.

Just read this on another forum

You Might Be A Redneck Pagan If....

....your high priest and priestess are named Cooter and Sweet Cheeks.

....your cakes and ale consist of RC Cola and Moon Pies.

....your calling of the quarters includes the phrase "Y'all Come!"

....your athame has been used to open a beer bottle.

....your coven has postponed a feast for NASCAR.

....your portrait of the goddess says "Miss September" along one edge.

....your Book of Secrets has a Rooster Andrews book cover on it, complete with football schedule.

....you've ever cast love magick on livestock.

....your Sacred Marriage is accompanied by ZZ Top. On an 8-Track.

....your altar includes more than two Chia Pets, more than one painting of Dale Earnardt, or smokeless tobacco.

....you've had to cancel making mead this year, because your hive got into the old Mountain Dew cans.

....you've had to remind the missus not to sew poodle applique on your Utili-kilts.

....your sister-in-law asked to incorporate a salute to Diana at the last sabbat, and you made a special trip to Wal-Mart just to get that Elton John CD.

....you've had to be reminded more than once that the term is "sky-clad," not "buck nekkid."

Yeah, but praying is a bit of a passive thing. You are asking God to do something in someone's life which He (in His infinite wisdom) may or may not do.

Casting spells, OTOH, takes an active approach in getting what you want done. Granted, they may not always work, but it seems rathered 'forced' that what prayer is designed for. For example, the aforementioned 'love spell' is to get someone to love you. Now it might not work because of factors like they are already taken, or have a different sex orientation, whatever, but if it does work, then the love received isn't genuine, is it? Because if you put a love spell on them and they aren't loving you under their own accord.

Doesn't matter, as long as you get laid.

I do believe the only time the love spell was mentioned was when you brought it up. I think praying is the same damn thing...especially with Catholics, lighting candles, going through ritual, etc.

How is casting spells more active approach? I don't know much about spell casting but it seems you do. Please explain.

I thought that spellcrafting was different than spell casting...anyone?

When practising magic and casting spells, as well as when celebrating various festivals, Wiccans use a variety of rituals. In typical rites, the coven or solitary assembles inside a ritually cast and purified magic circle. Casting the circle may involve the invocation of the "Guardians" of the cardinal points: East (Air), South (Fire), West (Water) and North (Earth). This use of the classical elements is a key feature of the Wiccan world-view. Every manifest force or form is seen to express one or more of the four elements. Some add a fifth or quintessential element called Spirit (also called aether or akasha). The five points of the frequently worn pentagram symbolise, among other things, the four elements with spirit presiding at the top.[23] Once the circle is cast, a seasonal ritual may be performed, prayers to the God and Goddess are said, and spells are sometimes worked.

An athame (black handle) and boline. Many Wiccans use a special set of magical tools in their rituals. These can include a broom (besom), cauldron, chalice, wand, Book of Shadows, altar cloth, athame, boline, candles, crystals, pentacle and/or incense. An altar is usually present in the circle, on which ritual tools are placed and representations of the God/Goddess may be displayed.[24] Before entering the circle, some traditions fast for the day, and/or ritually bathe. After a ritual has finished, the God, Goddess and Guardians are thanked and the circle is closed.

A sensationalised aspect of Wicca, particularly in Gardnerian Wicca, is the traditional practice of working in the nude, also known as skyclad. This practice seemingly derives from a line in Aradia, Charles Leland's supposed record of Italian witchcraft. Skyclad working is mostly the province of Initiatory Wiccans, who are outnumbered by the less strictly observant Eclectics. When they work clothed, Wiccans may wear robes with cords tied around the waist, "Renaissance-faire"-type clothing or normal street clothes.
