I have this problem too. What I've been doing (was a suggestion from another Mom who had gone through this) is giving only small portions at a time. Once any throwing of food begins, I guess their finished and the meal ends. She did this with all 3 of her kids and it has worked and I'm starting to see a difference myself.

Hrm.. I am definately going to try this tonight! :yay: And it will help reinforce the "more please" phrase we are trying to teach her. :yay: Thank you.

How old is she, Watercolor? If she's old enough, you can get her to help you clean up. You can even put the rag in her hand and help her wipe up messes. Once she realizes it's not fun to make a mess, she will stop. Also, does she talk yet? If you can use a word or phrase like "all done" so she can say that instead of throwing her stuff to let you know she's done, that might work too.

The kids have been learning sign language at daycare and the youngest one uses it more than the oldest one. Probably because I use it more with him than the oldest. Anywhoo ... it's just adorable to watch him sign "more please".

In My Opinion
just feed the kid on the floor to start with.
thats where the food is going to end up anyway.
and if you have dogs, it teaches the child to share at an early age.

15 months. Oh yes, she talks up a storm. She has a pretty good vocab with words that actually have a dialect to them, otherwise its babble.. but she can say "all done". And the rag is questionable.. I only say that, because she is in her stage right now- where she thinks its "fun" to help pick up things, and help me do things like wash and such, and so she is all about picking things up off the ground. Sigh.

Oh yeah buddy. The little girl I watch, she has down syndrom, and she signs all the time, because she has yet to learn to talk correctly, not to mention she hasnt gotten complete talking down yet (she was adopted from china ). Skeeter is picking up ALL KINDS of signs. It is so awesome! She signs "mommy" with me, but will actually say "daddy". LOL!

put the food directly on the tray of the highchair that way she doesn't have a plate to turn over

As I said above- I am trying to get her to get use to using tableware and utensils.. So.. that isnt an option.

Aside from the above..
But, she has gotten "better". I did the whole take it away, and then give it back if she wants more. I now have her signing "more" so she can tell me along with pointing. Hopefully this will work.
