Gamo Hunter Extreme--->1,600 fps :yikes:
I heard that once you get a pellet over 1,100 FPS that it becomes very innacurate because it is so light it loses speed fast and while going through the transonic speed it is buffeted being so light.

If you want power, get the Career Dragon Slayer in .50 caliber. It is almost powerful enough to hunt small deer with :shocking:

Or how about the 20mm air rifle shooting a 1,000 grain slug that is powerful enough to hunt hog with. You want kick? It's got kick

Is there any law that says I can't use one in my almost non-existant front yard?
Why and what's the point?
Do you have an existant back yard?
Ask yourself this question-would you want your next door neighbor shooting off an air rifle aka pellet gun?
Or perhaps their kid if he/she got hold of it?
Again I ask, what's the point and why?

Not sure about chain729, but my neighbor shoots off his pellet gun all the time into his yard and I actually appreciate it. Those rabbits are pests.

Then this might be a problem. Looks too much like something it's not :ohwell:

765 feet per second 22 cal that is really cooking. about the same speed as a 22 CB (connical ball low velocity) more mass in a cb than a 22 pellet though. The 22cb lr are quiter than an airrifle and no need to pump them up just cock and shoot :lmao:

In Maryland it is illegal to shoot a firearm for hunting within 150 yards of a residence without the person residing there or occupying it's permission.....but for firing an air gun which is not a firearm that law may not apply.
However, in Md many municipalities have ordinances against firing even pellet guns.

Read my third post.
Barely, but that's irrelevant.
Wouldn't bother me.
What does that have to do with anything? Sounds like anti-gun garbage.
See my third post.

I've got the .177 (hence the 1000 fps.) No pumping. Bend it in half till it clicks, load it, snap it back together and fire.

Too bad the Marlin won't take CB rounds. :ohwell:

Lilypad,

I told you what my motivation was in this instance. Fricken squirell running off with the fruit that I spend a lot of time and energy maintaining (spraying, pruning, taking branches to the landfill, thinning fruit, etc.)

If it matters, the Beeman was a gift from my father. Some people get help with a car when graduate HS, I got an air-rifle.

I like to shoot, it's a sport/hobby. I've been doing it since I was 8 years old. If I had time, I'd hunt. Not just as a sport, but because I like venison and I'm poor. Also, If I'm going to keep something around for self-defense (see below) or hunt in the future, I need to keep up on my target practice. Speaking of which, it's been way too long since I've been to the range...

If the air-rifle bugs you, you must HATE, the Chinese SKS, the Russian SKS (modded for a detachable mag), the Marlin 60, the two black-powder revolvers and the Remmington 870 Magnum that I keep next to the bed (need an explanation on that?) Have something against blades too? I own a lot of those, including a Cold Steel Swiss Halbred.

Yeah my marlin clip fed will not shoot them. I have a henry lever action That me an the boy shoot alot with CBs. With a back stop you could shoot them in a neighbor hood. They are so slow that they richochet alot. I had one come off a log hit my garage then hit the house behind where I was standing on the deck. Consider glasses or you will shoot your eye out. :killingme

Not federally, nor in Maryland are they considered firearms. First of all you need fire or a chemical reaction to qualify as a firearm, but there is also a legal definition of "firearm" federally and on the state level which air rifles do not meet.
The only manufactured air gun "firearm" said to be a "firearm" by the ATF was a Daisy airgun that used actual bullets with a little smokeless powder and a primer of sorts attached to the back end of it. The hot air and the increased pressure ignited the powder and so the ATF ruled it was a self contained cartridge and the rifle firing it was a "long gun" "firearm".

The hunting season for grey squirell is Sept. 1 thru Feb. 29. My father used to hunt them with a pellet rifle, on our farm not in a neighborhood, though.
Would killing them in your backyard fall under hunting regs.?
I sure have eaten a lot of tree rats growing up.
